Q: Community service ideas for middle school?
Well, i really need some good ideas for middle school community service. I need to write an essay suggesting what a community service volunteers could do and stuff like that. Help? I have some ideas like volunteer to a hospital, animal shelters, maybe a nature center. I need more though! Please help - if they'll like this essay i will be able to become a vice president of CJSF (california junior scholarship federation) I REALLY want that cause i really care about our community!
A: just some advice...
i truly hope this essay is something that is coming from your heart, not just because of how you will be profiting from it. to write your essay, there can be millions of ideas, but the only way it will really make a difference is if you mean it. if you mean well, you will certainly receive the recognition or happiness you deserve. it looks like you've got as many ideas as you can, but now try and work on something actively, so that when you write this essay, you have something to back it up, you can speak from personal experience. let your inner emotions come out to show the world how much you mean. show the world that with the generation of tomorrow being in your hands, you will make use of it, and preserve it for your descendants.
please, i beg you, please do not think of this topic as something boring you must get done to make your resume look good. do this to prove to yourself and to others that you can take the responsibility and care that this mother earth of ours is so desperate for.
Q: If i moved to florida and went to a community school for a year would i get in-state tuition for UCF?
UCF(university central florida)...if i were to move in august to florida and go to community school for the fall and spring would i be able to attend UCF the next september at in-state costs if i have my own place?
A: Yes. But read the university's manual. Somewhere in there there should be a description of what an "in-state" student is. Here are some:
Has lived in the state a full year before applying to the university. This is demonstrated by copies of leases, utility bills in your name, driver's license issue date, state taxes (for property owers), voter registration card issued to you in your new FL county. Some univeristies demand three proofs of residency from the above-stated examples.
As soon as you move there, get a FL driver's license and register to vote. Also, get a job as soon as you can so you have proof you are paying taxes. I know FL does not tax income but it does tax home owners at a higher-than-normal rate.
Q: How can I make my school and community more accepting?
I want to make my school and community one in which people of every color, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and background can feel welcome and at home. Currently, it's racist, prejudice, discriminatory, homophobic, and all the other things you don't want in society. What can I do???
A: Try and get other students involved in your ideas. Ask a teacher to supervise your meetings so that way a staff member can bring feedback to the other faculty on what your group is about.
You guys can organize guest speakers to come to your school, start a poster contest with a small prize for the most creative poster (like movie tickets or a certificate to a restaurant), have a Pajama Day where students pay $2 to wear a pair of pj's (suitable of course) and the money can go to the Aids Foundation (or another group of your choice).
The world needs more people like yourself. Start an epidemic and get your ideas out there!
Q: I have a Question on high school and community college?
I have a Question on high school and community college?

I may not take algebra 2 and Calculus in my year in high school. Does community college offer algebra 2 and Calculus?
Explain your answer thank you also enjoy your summer.
A: most colelges do offer these courses---you may not need them though--I only needed an 8th grade level math class to graduate from a state college with a 4 year degree..depends on your major...
Q: How water usage is used in home, school, and community?
Water Usage
Tell how it is used.
@ Home, School, and Community.
Please, this is one part of my project due tomorrow! and I have other stuff to do!!
Thank you I appreciate it.
A: that's easy
home=personal hygiene(showers, washing hands, face etc), gardens, hydration for ourselves, cooking, toilets, everyday tap use, cleaning, washing car
school= toilets, personal hygiene, cleaning, drink taps, canteen, educational use (eg. science experiements and such and also cooking classes)
community= toilets, swimming pools, umm.. can't think of anything else for this
Q: What types of questions can i ask a student about the community or school?
I need help!! I need to make a 2 minute interview for school what appropriate questions can I ask about the community and school.
A: 1. What's your favorite thing about the school?
2. How do you think our school can improve?
3. Does your school have a strong sense of community? How do you build community?
4. How are you involved in your school?
5. Do you think the way that your school teaches helps you learn? How so?
6. How much homework do you have?
7. What kind of service do you perform in your community?
come on-just think
Q: Are community college and high school GPAs combined?
I am attending a community college in the fall. My high school GPA was very low, only a 2.0 because I slacked off. I want to attend a four year university in 2 years, preferably San Fransisco State University. Will my high school and community college GPA be combined when I try to transfer to a four year school? Will both be considered or only my community college GPA?
A: The two GPAs won't be combined. While both may be considered (this depends on the university, so check with SF State) your community college GPA will hold FAR more weight than your high school GPA. So if you do well in the community college, even if you bombed high school, you can still get into a really good bachelors degree program.
So focus on your community college classes in the fall. Do as well as you can there. If you find yourself not doing as well as you'd like, speak to your academic advisor and the professor immediately - after the first bad grade in the class. Get a tutor or some other sort of extra help. Do not wait. And do not be shy about doing this. The help is there for you. That's what it's for. It'd be silly not to take advantage of it, if you find yourself not doing as well as you want to.
Q: List your activities in your community and school and why they are important to you?
List your activities in your community and school and why they are important to you?
A: Never give out or ask the school you go to, that's safety tip number 3! :P
(numbers 1&2 are name and phone number... in case anyone wondered)
Q: About High school and community college?
I want to go to a community college to finish my high school diploma. Could I get my high school credit no matter which community college I attend?
A: I've never heard of getting a high school diploma at a junior college. Generally to get into a community college, you have to have the diploma already. Better check your sources, I think you are in for a surprise.
Q: What do you expect from the XYZ school community for you? for your child?
Hello...as a family we are filling out an application for our 5th grader who we would like to see attend an Independent Middle School. We are not avid writers and could use a little help. Thanks in advance.
A: To think of expectations, write a list of attributes you'd like your child to have once he graduates, and how a school can support these things. Thumb through the dictionary and look up words that describe how you feel-you can also use s thesarus if you'd like to add in a few 'sparkly' words (not too many!). Have your child come up with a list of what he wants out of school and maybe select the top three to embellish upon. I couldn't find it now, but there are lists of 'action words' that are suggested for resumes- you can probably use the same list to describe your desires for your child's education.
To get you started, as a parent, you'd probably like a:
Safe, caring school environment that encourages academic and personal growth. You might also like a community where parent participation is encouraged and supported by faculty and staff.
Q: Ontario public high school 40 hours community hours question?
Ontario public high school 40 hours community hours question?
could some one with experiance tell me if it's
too late to finish the 40 hours of community hours now? and when is it due?
lol still need to finish 40 hours......and could some one give a suggestion on where to find a volunteer work.
thank you very much!
A: well at my school you submit them as you get them, you need 40 by grade 12 to graduate.
one time my town was having a half marathon, and i volunteered to hand out water to the runners. i got 10 hours, it was so much fun!
also, if your parents' work ever has kids christmas parties, that's a good place to volunteer.
nursing homes, hospitals, it's pretty easy to find places.
Q: How do I transfer my high school credits to community college?
I want to transfer my high school credits to a community college....I will be a senior in high school next year, but I need to work so....How do I to community college and finish my high school credits?
A: ummmm highschool classes that are labeled as "college level class" also known as "dual enrollment" and Advance Placement classes only transfer over to college
all other class do not
i tooked college level classes in highschool and i cut my college time down a semester
and they just transfer on their own u do not need to do anything, when you sign up for college classes, go see a counseler and they pull all your credits up
Q: I would like to donate shoes (sneakers, sandals, etc.) from my school and community, but nobody has collection?
I came up with a great project for my school, community, family, and friends to help people in need. I want to have a shoe drive and collect as many used pairs of shoes as possible to help people who are lacking. But I checked all over online including Peace Corps. and Red Cross to see if i could make a donation like this but nobody seems to accept! What can I do?
A: Good for you !! Love the idea !
When I lived in the Chicago area (not sure where you live) we , as a Girl Scout troop, collected gently used shoes and donated to an organization called Share Your Soles, they send to people all over the world.
Not sure if they have any other locations in the U.S. (actually just looked it up..they do have drop off in some other states too ) If not, you maybe can ask for monetary donations to help with mailing expenses to one of the closest locations.
Please check out their website at:
www.shareyoursoles.org
ANOTHER EDIT: try www.shareyoursoles.com
(for some reason it comes up this way but then shows .org after I've pulled it up...hope you can get it to come up !)
Edit: They have a great area on their website telling you how to organize a shoe drive...which may be helpful to you.
Good luck !!
Q: If I help someone build a fence? Will that count for High school community service? ?
Is that community service? For high school
If not it won't count?
A: Ask whoever tracks the hours. Different schools have different standards. If it is your neighbor, probably not. If it is at a church or other non-profit organization, probably yes.
Q: How can I contact pro athlete to come to my school to a community service event?
I want to plan a community service event for my school, the project would later be used as a DECA state conference project. I'm in CT, so I would like to contact the Red Sox or the Patriots, or another team close by, so that a few players would come.
How would I do that?
What would make them want to come for the event?
Do any of you have any connections?
Thanks.
A: Here goes the contact information for both teams
