Q: What are the pros and cons of private middle schools and public middle schools?
My dad is thinking of making me go to private school but I really want to stay in a public school for middle school. So, he is making me write down the pros and cons of private schools and of public schools and that is the only way to convince him. Help please. 10 points for best answer.
FYI, I'm not talking about boarding school if that is what you are thinking.
A: I actually go to a private school... I think it's great!!
Pros of Private school:
- A lot less people
- The teachers are awesome
- The teachers are really willing to help you
- Very orgaanized
- my school is really fun we have young teachers in their mid twenties
Cons of Private School:
- Uniforms
Q: Do most public schools allow gays to buy prom tickets to go as a couple?
I suppose they could just buy two 'single' tickets but that would cost more than one 'couple' ticket.
Do most public schools allow gays to buy one 'couple' ticket?
I would think in this day in age they would have to do that. I mean come on if they made them pay extra for two single tickets, that would be discrimination.
A: I think if they denied someone they could get tried for discrimination so I would assume most schools would. But some people are still close-minded so I guess it just depends on where you live.
Q: How can citizens have more faith in the public schools?
With the low test scores in many public school mostly inner city, how can we have faith in the public schools. Isn't it wrong to send kids to under performing schools? My kids go to a small rural area public school with okay scores above average. What can we do to help the kids do good at their public schools?
A: stop saying to ourselves "better them than me"
Q: How are private schools in the US different from public schools?
are they for aristocrats or what? how different are they from public schools? for K-12 and university level.
A: Small class sizes, stricter, uniformed (most, anyways). Private is the way to go if you can afford it..public is mostly free (K-12 anyways)
Q: How do I take my child out of public schools to homeschool in alabama?
We live in shelby county.
She started kindergarten in august and I've decided that I would rather homeschool her. How do I go about taking her out of public schools?
A: Go to the HSLDA website page for homeschooling legally in Alabama, which I've attached, to learn what you need to do in your state.
Join a Yahoo Group for Alabama Homeschoolers. Families there can give you more details on what to do and point you in the direction of a local group where you can meet families in person.
Withdraw your daughter according to Alabama law and get started homeschooling.
I've included some other web sites that are also very helpful.
Q: How much difference does it make to send my kids to the top public schools?
I live in a pretty good neighborhood where not many kids drop out of school. 5-10 miles away, there are "better" neighborhoods where the houses cost twice as much, but the schools score in the top 10% of the state.
I can afford to move, but I am not sure if I want to. I have friends that are working like crazy so they can send their kids to one of the top public schools. I'm wondering if I could do better with a decent school but be around my wife and kids more. Am I missing something? Why are so many of my friends taking on heavy mortgages to do this? If my daughter turns out to be a genius, would I be better off in a private school anyway? Anyone?
A: As long as you stay involved with your children's education, then you shouldn't have to move.
Too many parents rely solely on the schools to improve their child's education. It takes the responsibility of their own backs.
Q: How do we know that public schools are doing what they are supposed to do?
I find that people can not clearly define what the purpose of public schools is.
A: they have standards that must be met. anything above and beyond that is really up to the parents to teach I suppose. (unless thru a private school). The school district I live in is excellent and am hoping the local levy coming up will pass in order to maintain the excellence.
Q: When are our supposedly poor public schools going to hurt our economy?
I've been hearing for 30 years that our crummy public schools will put us at a disadvantage in the world economy. Has this happened? Why or why not?
A: I see the problem from outside and I think this is not a good indicator to measure the education of US people...US people read more books per capita, more newspapers and magazines...This is not all, US have the more high rate of academic investigations works per capita...
I watch it like a problem of statistics...about six years ago was made in one city of Europe an Olympic Games of Mathematics...of course, this was not focused to prize the average qualifications else the best qualifications...I remember in 7 fields just one was winned by an Asiatic (please, excuse me my fans) and the rest were from US...
Methods for to study conducts of individuals, which are applied in offices and schools, says the western society is not oriented to conscientious work; an indispensable request in schools, while eastern societies give more weight to it...western society do not pull you to be conscientious else to be the best...
Q: How do public schools get funding for sports?
How do public schools get funding for sports?
I mean specifically in California US. I would like to know exactly how the funds are distributed, if possible.
Thank you so much yahoo answers community.
A: Property taxes. That is why you see levies in the ballot every November for school districts.

I read an article about how some states still allow paddling in their public schools but they didn't list them. Anyone have a list?
