Q: Do any Prep Schools in New York City have boarding?
I'm interested in going to prep school my Senior year. I have looked at exeter, and phillips andover academies. I need to board there but I am more interested in going to school in New York but I don't think any of the schools there have boarding. Any ideas?
A: I don't think there are any boarding schools in NYC. I am assuming that you mean NYC and not NY state. There are a few boarding schools with easy access to NYC. Take a look at the Masters School which is a 30min. train ride to the heart of Manhattan. Look at Millbrook School which also has train access, but further away. I think Choate is not too far from the New Haven train line. Lawrenceville and the Hun School of Princeton are close to the Princeton train to NYC. Blair Academy has a weekend shuttle to a NYC bus. If you are a boy, Trinity Pawling is close to the Pawling train to NYC.

Here is a link to a discussion board that I think you will enjoy http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/
However, I think ivy placement is a poor way to select a boarding school or a high school.
Good luck!
Q: What is college prep high school? Don't all high schools prepare you for college?
I want to go to great high school so I can go to college. What is the difference of college prep and high school?
A: Highschools are govt. issued only to teach you atleast the basic needs to have an okay life and to make the country itself more smarter compared to other countries. Prep school only focus on getting you to college. Highschools really only care that everyone passes, and that's the end of that to them.
Q: Are you a bit envious of people who get to attend elite prep boarding schools and Ivy League colleges?
School like Exeter and Andover,
and Harvard and Yale...
are you jealous of the elite kids at these schools -- supposedly the future leaders of tomorrow?
A: Ha, well, no, I'm not jealous because I am one.
Correction: I am an Ivy League student, but contrary to every stereotype, I come from a family with NO money, they actually get government assistance for living, and so I had to apply for a lot of scholarships to afford going to such a school. I just studied hard in high school and then did community service when I wasn't with after school organizations or working at my job.
I worked really hard to earn my place in my Ivy League school, and so have a lot of other students.
Do I hope to be a future leader of tomorrow? Of course, I hope to do great things, but those oppurtunties will come because of my dedication, determination, and discipline, not my personal endowment.
Just to tackle another stereotype, I also don't particular like sweaters that much, but I'm on the east coast for school, and it gets cold.
Q: Will I get into these prep schools?
I am an eight grade girl.I got a 69 percentile on my ssat test and I am very well rounded. I play Ice Hockey as my main sport and then run cross county and play lacrosse.I am also in my schools band I play the Sax. I am also in the jazz and wind ensamble.
I am in the student government also. I receive strait a's at my school.I applyed to The Lawrenceville School, The Hill School, The Northwood School, and Wyoming Seminary College Prepatory School.
A: Lawrenceville is a reach for almost everyone. You have chances there, but with such a low acceptance rate it is hard to make any prediction.
Hill is a match for you, but whether or not you are accepted depends on the other applicants this year. I think your chances are good, but no guarantees.
I think you have great chances at Northwood and Wyoming Seminary.
Congratulations on your many talents and good luck!
Q: what are some good college prep schools in south phoenix-Laveen aera?
looking but cant find much. help please!
A: There aren't many. Really, you pretty much set to Brophy/Xavier.
Q: What are the top ten best prep schools on the east coast?
A: Try this website. I heard that they list all the best schools and colleges to attend.
http://www.schools2colleges.com/
Q: What are some of the best prep boarding schools?
Could you name at least 5?
A: Phillips Academy Andover
Phillips Academy Exter
Eton
Deerfield
Hotchkis
Q: Where can i find a student loan with bad credit for prep schools?
Fork Union Military Academy
A: Two best places to search for aid are FAFSA (federal) and Fastweb (provides a customized list of appropriate scolarships and grants). Credit history does not usualy play a role in getting educational loans and grants if you use the proper channels.
Q: My sister is enrolling into college prep high schools? She was told to read SAT book 9 and 10?
For one of the highschools. Does anyone have any idea where I could find these books at a relative decent price? Or perhaps even be able to locate them. Thank you VERY MUCH!
A: Try www.amazon.com, there's lots of different ones though so no clue which one you need exactly.
Or better still, call the school and ask for the ISBN numbers of the books she needs, then google them.
Websites where you can buy them should come up.
Q: What are the top ten boarding/prep schools in New England?
A: choate rosemary hall is probably the best for academics..
suffield academy is really good for certain sports, as well as the gunnery, but one of the best is definitely cheshire academy..they have good sport programs, really good academics, REALLY nice campus, and they have like 5 star food..yeah i go there but it really is a good school
Q: What's the difference between prep, private, and boarding schools?
A: Prep - Short for preparatory. Same as a private school in the US. Prepares one for college.
Private school: a school that charges for tuition. Not supported by local taxes.
Boarding school: a category of Private school where most of the students live in dormitories. Students may come from all over the world.
Day school; a private school without boarding students.
These definitions are for the USA. Different terms are used in England.
Q: Prep schools that don't require ssat marks.?
Can someone please give me a list of d1 and d2 schools that don't require SSat marks. I play hockey and I want to go to prep next year and I only have time for one ore test of SSAT. If i don't get good on that, I want to apply for schools that don't require SSAT. Can someone please help me?
Thanks in advance
A: The only way around it that I am aware of is to get a current teacher to recommend you. With that, you might get in. Good luck.
