Q: How do you apply for the Naval academy prep school.?
i would like to know everything about the prep school: how to apply, how long are you there, what is it, etc...... everything you know please!!!
thanx.
A: I would check the website and speak with a Navy recruiter
Q: What's a good name for a college prep school for my story?
I'm suprised I can't think of anything (I go to col. prep. school myself) but I am writing a story and I need help on choosing the prper name for a school. In the story, the school is extremely elite, only the richest of the richest go there. Pretty much everyone there is spoiled and mean, so I want a name that kind of plays off of that. I was thinking of Kingswitch, but my friend said that was a tad bit too spooky. Any ideas?
A: Hmm. Any rich-sounding last name would do...
Hesston?
(Heh, just googled, turns out that really is a college. Nevermind.)
Everything I can think of ends in 'ton', and everything I think of spits out a real college in Google. Sorry. :-)
Q: What is the coolest prep school you know of?
My mom wants to send my sister and brother to prepatory school, they want my help in finding a cool, modern, good prepatory school, any suggestions? thanks!
thank you very much! and yes, they want a nice big school, from the examples youv'e given me, i think my sister will like chatham hall.
and in sports, my brother would die without basketball and soccer. lol
A: There are lots of great schools out there. For your sister, I would recommend Emma Willard School in NY and Chatham Hall in VA. Both have excellent academics and great service programs. Chatham Hall also has a really cool leaders-in-residence program where internationally recognized women (like Nobel laureates) stay on campus to teach small seminars. These are both schools for girls, but that actually makes them incredibly empowering places. See this for some facts about all-girls education: http://www.ncgs.org/type0.php?pid=16 .
Among coed schools, I would recommend Northfield Mount Hermon as a really interesting school. But there are LOTS of options here. Deerfield, St. Paul's, Exeter, and Andover are probably the most famous ones for academics... but they're not necessarily the best for every student. Your siblings should look at lots of schools and choose according to which one fits best--special science programs? friendly students? study or service abroad opportunities? (Chatham Hall has a service abroad opportunity in South Africa and study abroads in various European countries, and NMH has study abroad opportunities for winter term in lots of interesting places, etc., etc.) Do they want a small school or a huge one? What sports? Artsy? There are lots of things to consider.

Q: What is the most prestigious prep school?
I have heard many different answers to this question. Please don't do research on this, but tell me what you have heard to be the best boarding school. If you don’t know any or don't know what a boarding school is, please don't answer this question.
A: In the United States, the Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire, is tops in prestige.
In the United Kingdom and the world at large, Eton is the most pretigious prep school.
Q: How can I get a scholarship in Andover prep school?
I asked what I need to study to get into the school last time, but now, I need the information details about how can I enter? Do I have to competite with other students to get the scholarship?
Ps: I'm brazilian. I enter on the Andover's site, but I didn't find information about my view point (foreign). I'm 15 years old, I'm going to do 16, tomorrow.
A: Financial aid at Andover is based on need. They look at your family's income and assets, determine what they can pay and then give you the rest in grants and loans. They do not offer scholarships for acadmeic merit, but admission is based on merit. If you get in they will work with you in terms of money.
Coming from Brazil is a big plus, you don't see many S. Americans at the prep schools. Apply to more than one though, the competition is fierce.
Q: What's the difference between "High School" and "Prep school"?
I'm italian and i'm curious to know the difference because in italy the school system is different. Thank's!
A: The term prep school was formerly used to describe schools that focused on preparing its students for colleges- at the time this term was coined many students from high schools did not attend college after graduation. Prep schools are also usually private schools.
Q: In The Sims for gamecube, how can i get the children to prep school?
I am on the final level, in the gamecube version of the Sims, in get a life mode. and one of the goals is get the kids off to prep school. Has anyone ever done this before, if so, how?
A: you need to have them go to school everyday with high stats
Q: How do I get into Catholic College Prep High School Honors Classes?
How well do I have to score on the High School Placement Test in order to ge accepted into Honors Classes for a Catholic College Prep High School. Do most kids test high enough to get into honors classes? Thank you
A: In my Think u should ask ur mom or dad first before u go to catholic college so ur mom and dad will know about that question.
Q: Is prep school difficult to get into aka post grad-high school ?
Right now im a senior in high school and after high school i plan on going to prep school. Im considering cheshire academy but i wanted to know is it hard to get into post grad high school aka prep school ?
A: Many PGs are athletes who think another year will help them with college recruitment. If you are a strong athlete in a sport that is important to Cheshire and you compare well to their accepted students, then you should have a very good chance of acceptance. If you are not an athlete, then I just don't know.
Q: How do you get a scholarship for a prep school?
I was thinking Brearley School (private school) or something like that. I don't have the money but I do think it's a good school.
Is there like a program to get scholarships or something?
No loans or anything like that.
A: It depends on the school. Find the schools you are interested in attending then contact their admissions offices. Ask them about admissions so you can see if your educational achievements qualify, then ask them about the grants and scholarships they are aware of that you can apply for. You sound like you will achieve much. Keep it up.
Q: In England at a Prep school..what kind of car would a 17 year old have?
I am writing a story and this girl moved to London. She needs to buy a car. She is going to a school named Norton Prep. What kind of car would be good for her to have? And what is a reasonable price for it...in pounds(£). Thanks!
A: In England prep schools prepare pupils for public school which they start between the ages of 11-13 usually. Prep school pupils are between the ages of 7-11 or sometimes 12 or 13 max. So no prep school student could drive a car. A school called Norton Prep would be expected to have pupils between, at the most, 7-13 years of age. Also, very few 17-18 year olds would have their own car, only if they were flashy nouveau riches for the most part.
Q: Interview at a private prep school PA to Headmaster?
I have been invited back for a 2nd formal interview at a private prep school. I have been asked to take questions to the interview. Any sensible ideas for questions. All obvious questions have been covered, job description, hours, tour of school etc. Any help would be much appreciated.
A: Why did the last person leave, and how long had they been in the job, and what support will there be while you are learning the job? Can you spend a week 'shadowing' the person in the job at the moment?
I do not know if you have children, but will they get reduced rates?
can you take part in extra-curricular activities (clean minds to others, please!) What I mean is that if you have any hobbies - or want to do - but if they have a 'club' that does the same, are you allowed to help?
This may sound odd, but are they intending to do any building work soon, and will it be in the holidays? This is because at my daughter's school they changed the staff loos - and the noise was HORRENDOUS! the secretary had a lot of problems hearing the phone, for example, and went home every day with a headache!!!!! This is not what you want when you are starting off! It will also show if the school is dynamic, if they are planning such stuff, however!!!
Are there any duties that have not been listed - for example, occasional 'private' letters for staff, or stuff for the Governors? - these may not be in the job description!
Ask them what they are looking for - I know you have got to 2nd interview, but you need to know as you do not want to accept a job if they are looking for a 'neatness freak' but you know you can be seen as untidy during the day! (or put in whatever you know your worst feature is, just spin it so it is not so bad - for example, despite being untidy, you always have a clear desk at the end of the day, and hate leaving work to do later!)
I know these are dotted around, and not in the right order, but I put them down as I thought of them!
For any further questions, put the school into http://www.isinspect.org.uk - they are the ones that look at the school (like OFSTED, but for the private sector) and read what it says that it does well, and what needs improvement - ask what they are doing about the bits that need improvement! - this also shows you are researching the school properly!
(if you cannot find them, contact me with the name of the school and I will try to find it for you!)
Then choose a smart outfit, make sure your shoes are polished and your hair is done! Write the questions down so you remember them, and write down relevant answers if you need to!
GOOD LUCK!!!!
Q: Why do most prep school kids go to liberal arts colleges after graduating?
I've noticed that many people have the belief that the brightest of the class go to ivy league schools, but I know otherwise. Any ideas why?
A: It's not most as ivies, Stanford, Duke and a few others are well represented, but top LACs are considered on par, just a different experience by those in the know. There are kids who want the small seminars and small communities. The Williams, Swats and Amhersts of the world are harder to get into than the bottom ivies, Cornell and non Wharton Penn. After small classes and close relationships with teachers all through school many just don't want the impersonal big U.
Q: Should I attend a overcrowded public school or a smaller, more prestigious prep school?
have to attend a new school because of personal reasons, so I have to choose between a public and charter school. The charter school is more presteigous, but is smaller and mainly consists of clubs rather than sports. The public school has a space issues (alot of people attend that school) and has a decent honors program and more sports. I really want to get into an excellent college, but the lack of sports is a problem for me because I love to run cross country and wrestle. So what should I do?
help?
A: Aren't charter schools public too? If this is indeed a public school that doesn't offer sports, by law you can go to that school and participate in sports at another school in the district.
Also a prestigious school won't really help you get into a better college. Often it backfires because the more top students, the more competition for top colleges. And if it's a prestigious private school the competition can get really bad from wealthy legacies. Each college will only take a limited number from any 1 high school. Often it's best to be top at the lesser high school.
