Q: How is the North Carolina School of the Arts?
The North Carolina School of the Arts (now the University of the North Carolina School of the Arts), is one of my choices for continuing my education. I'd like to get some opinions. Is the education value good? Is it worth living in Winston-Salem? Is it a good place to start growing independently or as an artist (in any field)?

A: NC School of the Arts has a fine reputation, and Winston-Salem is a lovely place. The North Carolina college system is excellent.

Q: Has anyone ever taken the filmmaking option at the North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Session?
If you have, how did you like it? Was it worth the money? What were its pros/cons? Any details would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A: If you're thinking about going into filmmaking, summer session is a good way to test it out before really comitting to it. It is a 5 week program and costs about 550 a week if you are in state. That can be a lot of money, and sort of depends on your finances. It is a good program in that you get to explore all the different aspects of filmmaking as well as some acting in top quality facilities. The college can be a bit of a daunting place, and tons of people drop out because it isn't right for them. Since it is a conservatory, you can't really transfer the credits to other schools i.e. lots of wasted money. Going to the summer session can help you figure out if it is the right option for you as far as college goes. Good Luck

Q: What's The Best Fashion School in North America?
I live in Canada, so i'd prefer a school here, but i wouldn't mind so much if the better school was in the U.S either. Another important thing, i can speak french, and im positive that could help me if i did some work in fashion in france. I love fashion, and i know how competitive it is out there. But i'll go to whatever lengths to do that. Im still pretty young, too young to even get an internship yet. But i know i want to have a career in fashion, designing, or styling. And i want to plan ahead.

A: My friend goes to FIT-the fashion institute of technology in NY, I've heard its good. Its in a good location too, right in the middle of everything. My friend got to go to Bryant park for the big fashion show there, and she helped dress and prepare clothes for the models of the project runway contestants

Q: Where can i find pictures of the Mckinney North High School Cheerleaders?
i've heard many sceptacle comments about them .and i want to know is everything they have said about them taking pictures in their uniforms are trur

A: The stories are true, but you're not going to find the 'dirty' pictures of them in the condom store. those pics were removed from the internet months ago. for the story, you should go to the newspaper's website that ACTUALLY broke the story, not some affiliate that isn't even in the same state and posted pictures of cheerleaders that aren't even from the same school. go here for all the coverage you can handle: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/education/stories/010707dnmetcheerleaders.34349f3.html

Q: What is the best writing school in North America?
I plan on going there to get Masters/PhD to be a professer. Give me some great schools...

A: The University of Iowa has that reputation, but there are many and it really depends on what you're looking for. I'd suggest you get a copy of this book as it's the most up-to-date on writing programs: THE CREATIVE WRITING MFA HANDBOOK by Tom Kealey The last thorough rankings of MFA/writing programs was done by US News & World Report, but that was 10 years ago and much has changed. Many "up and comers" have "up and came" since then while others (like Iowa) have slipped. Kealey (author of the book above and a name that you'll see everywhere you go when researching MFA programs in writing) has his own scale that's controversial but a lot more current- in addition to quality of the program it weighs financial aid packages, the setting, etc.. Warning: no matter how talented a writer you are, apply to as many programs as you can afford to apply to because they are V-E-R-Y selective. Some accept 5% or fewer of their applicants, and the amount of financial aide varies incredibly as well. Since this is writing, admission is also far more subjective than most other programs: George Mason Univ. may think you're the second coming of Shakespeare over the same materials that make Columbia say "Next!"- so much depends on who's on the selection committee and what their tastes are. Do not be discouraged if NO program accepts you the first time you apply- some of the greatest authors in history were rejected many times by publishers/academic programs/etc., and most of the greatest living authors do not have MFAs. Good luck.

Q: Best smaller school districts north of San Antonio?
I have heard that the NEISD is the best school district on the north side of San Antonio. However, I've also heard that it is huge and overcrowded right now. What are the best smaller districts north of the city? I'm aware that Boerne is a recognized district and smaller. A lot of the houses we're interested in looking at are in Comal County ISD, but I noticed that this district is not recognized, just academically acceptable. Any thoughts on any smaller districts north, northeast and northwest of town would be much appreciated (Schertz, Helotes, Marion, Boerne, etc.).

A: Smithson Valley is suppose to have a good school district. They are out towards Bulverde.
