Q: What disadvantages are there when switching high schools?
I'm in my junior year of high school and am considering switching to another high school in september. The high school I am considering switching to is better in academics. But what are the disadvantages of switching high schools? Like, will that affect my university applications? Will there be a lot of paper work associated with switching schools? Thanks!

A: i'm also a junior in high school and considering transferring out next year. idk about the applications and paperwork stuff, but you also have to think about the fact that you'll be starting in a new place where everyone already has their close friends and stuff. it'll be your last year in high school, and it'll sort of be like starting over. you ahve to think about every little thing before you transfer... hope all goes well :)

Q: What is the difference between high schools in Canada and USA?
Okay so, right now I attend a semestered high school in Canada, however my mom is moving to the usa and I have to go with her. :( so anyways, how do the high schools in the USA work?

A: In the town I live in California, kids barely spend any time at school, just about 4 hours a day, they have lots of days off, they barely know how to spell, and they pass everybody no matter how ignorant they are.

Q: How should I ask my boyfriend to my high schools dance?
We go to different high schools and I want to ask him in a creative way. He is going to be a Pharmacist and going into the air force. Any ideas? Its the girl ask boy dance at my school! yes hes my boyfriend and he will go with me, i just want to surprise him and spice it up!

A: Preferable with words, and forming those words into a question would be good, if you can handle it that is.

Q: For high schools that use paddling to discipline?
In high schools that still use paddling, do you feel that it's okay for the opposite gender to administer the paddling? For example, a female teacher paddling a male student?

A: i actually dont see why teachers/schools can get by with this when the parents get turned in for child abuse for doing it. does that make sense?

Q: What is the smoking policy for students in Madison, WI high schools?
It doesn't matter if you smoke or hate smoking, that isn't related to the question. I am asking about smoking on school grounds, like during lunch break, at high schools in Madison, WI. I have heard from a student that it is maybe not allowed but the policy is never enforced. True?

A: Interesting, but I dont know..lol...you tc/ God bless you;)

Q: Why do you think that high schools should raise their standards for grades?
I am writing a paper for my English class, and I would love to have your opinion on why high schools should raise their grading standards. It seems to me that you dont really have to do much to pass a class, I am looking for reasons why this should be changed so that students have to do more to graduate from highschool. Thanks for your help!

A: my grading scale is: a)100-95% a-) 94-93% b+)92-91% b)90-87% b-)86-85% c+)84-83% c)82-77% c-)76-75% d+)74% d)73-71% d-)70% f)below 70 this is a difficult grading scale by most standards. you need 4 credits in religion and english. 3 credits in social studies, math, and science. 2 credits in foreign language. 1 credit in fine arts and technology. .5 credits in speech, health, p.e.,and 5.5credits in electives.this is a really great system and i know that my friends who go off to college say that college is easier than our high school so i know it definitely prepares you. it's important to push your mind as far as it can go because undiscovered potential is just wrong! good luck with the essay!

Q: what is the best way to advertise to high schools?
i have developed a small but unique curriculum which i think high schools would be interested in buying and teaching their students in the form of a one-time half-hour class. i cant go into detail about what the curriculum is about but i dont think anyones dont this before and i think it would be a very attractive idea to high school administrators. it would cost them about $100 to get my entire package which would cover 1000 students. whats the best way to advertise this to them? can i just mail them a postcard that shows my curriculum (this would be very appropriate for the type of class this is)? who do I mail (principal? counselors? teachers?) can they even buy outside curriculum like this?

A: The best way to get attention from the school or schools is to contact a teacher you know personally and show them your curriculum. If you have not already done so, allow a teacher or a group of teachers of a school you are interested in reviewing your curriculum to test or pilot your curriculum in order to see what modifications you need to make before you make a huge sales pitch to any administrators or decision makers. Keep a survey of teachers and written testimonies from teachers who successfully used your curriculum. This could be part of your advertising. Postcards and mailed advertisements get pitched in the trash or sent to teachers in departments that are aligned with your curriuclum. Principals receive hundreds of mailers per month regarding curriculum and, as an ex-principal, I can tell you from experience I threw most of them away. However, I did listen to my staff when it came to curriculum ideas that were tested or a best practice that they used before in the classroom. I also relied heavily on the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) for research and ideas for my school's new curricula. Curriculum decisions are made via the district and the building principals with "buy-in" from the staff. Input from staff is key!! School boards, principals, and staff often go with curriculum that has been tested and piloted in other schools. Has your curriculum been piloted? If not, ask a teacher to pilot your curriculum for a semester or a quarter to see if it will float in the classroom. Finally, has your curriculum been reviewed by a state research council or university education program? Did you have a Ph.D or Ed.D. review your curriculum? Is your curriculum aligned to state standards? A great place to start with curriculum evaluation is North Central Research Education Laboratories (NCREL) or Mid-Continent Research Education Laboratories (McREL).

Q: What is the gpa format of most high schools?
At my school, it's done on the 100 point scale. My gpa is a 98.86. Do most high schools use the 4 point scale?

A: yeah i think so. my high school and most of the ones that my friends go to are on the 4.0 scale

Q: Where can I find a list of musicals that high schools are currently doing or are available for high schools?

A: www.tamswitmark.com You should be able to find what your looking for here.

Q: What is the history of driver education in US high schools?
What was the first US high school to offer Driver's Ed? What year did most US high schools offer Driver's Ed?

A: Check with your local drivers ed class

Q: Should high schools set aside a smoking area for their students?
Should high schools just bite the bullet and set aside an area for students who smoke, or should they continue the good fight against smoking? The school I currently teach at does not allow smoking on campus, but smoking in the bathroom is in full effect. The staff works overtime to run students out, but it just seems like it never ends. I'm not seeing much in regards to punishment for smoking here either (it may be different in different areas). What do you think? I'd love to hear your opinions.

A: At our school-By law no one can smoke on school property. Teachers can not even smoke in their cars if they are parked in a school parking lot. The bus drivers who smoke, have to walk across the street from the bus barn, because that is considered school property. Start making the price they pay for smoking in school higher and they will stop. Making their parents come for the offense would be a big determent. If no one punishes them, why would they stop.
