Q: What are some good colleges for someone who wants to be a grade school teacher?
I live in California and I want to be a grade school teacher (5th grade and lower) I want to be a good teacher though and possibly work at a private school.
-What are some colleges that are good for people who want to be grade school teachers?
(preferably in California)
-Do public school teachers or private school teachers get paid more?
p.s. I go to a really good college preparatory school so I could get into a decent school
A: Go to the best school you can, it will give you the best prep.
But whether you go to Cal State Long Beach or Stanford, do not expect to get much difference in salary. And grade school teachers make lousy pay. If you care about the money, find another job.
Q: What was the most fun activitiy you did in Grade School?
I work for a before and after school program. Im always looking for fun things to do with the kids and I find if I look back on what was really fun for me in grade school they usually dig it. Like playing line tag, making bead lizards, playing shark with the parachute, etc.
A: Eating cookies, drinking milk and gangbanging the hot grade two teachers while at it.
Q: What was that game in grade school, where you had to avoid "trogs" and eat the right words?
I can't find it anywhere...it was one of the ones that came on the school computer in grade school (like 3rd grade) and the teacher would let you play it sometime? It was in the same area "Oregon Trail" was in? And, for that matter, what were all the other ones, like the one where you...did something with dinosaurs and stores (to be honest, I really only played the trog one, I don't remember the other ones that much)? It's been nagging at me since yesterday.
A: oh man it took me like forever to remember this but i think i got it. I believe the game is "Word Muncher" and it had a frog and you had to walk across a board eating the adj. or verbs while avoiding the bad guys.
man i hope i got it right!
Q: What do you think of this middle school grade span?
Lately the 6-8 middle school seems to be the most popular grade span, however I just recenly heard about a 5-7 span. It sounded weird at first, but then I thought about it and realized that these grades seem to be experiencing many of the same developmental and emotional changes. Eighth graders a lot of times seem out of place in a 6-8 school. What do you think? Has anyone experienced such a set-up?
This would be the district organization: K-4, 5-7, 8-9, 10-12
A: not really, i think its in the 7-8 grade period where students start to develop and change. the 5-7 doesnt seem to fit together with younger teens who haven't experienced much things as older teens who have experienced much more and grown up to know certain things.
Q: should i go to a catholic or public school for 10th grade?
9th grade was the first time i went to a catholic school...i thought that i would fit in because of their strict standards, but i was teased, picked on and had no friends and was sad most of the year. i fit in much better at my grade school. I'm also not catholic, and believe that uniforms and short hair and stuff have nothing to do with learning. however, my parents don't know any of this, and i'm afraid to tell them, becuase they might be angry or something. what should i do?
A: What worries me is that you are 15, 16 (?) and are afraid to talk with your parents! Your parents need to know about how you are being treated and are feeling. Little learnng goes on when fear is part of your daily life.
Q: What should i do for changing in the locker room for high school grade 8?
What should i do for changing in the locker room for high school grade 8?
i am 12 years old, male. im very shy, ive never changed nude in front of anyone, i just always use a towel/use the bathroom. options: use towel, use bathroom, or go nude
A: This is a problem I have difficulty comprehending. My locker room initiation was at the public swimming pool when I was about 8. Initially, I was somewhat shocked when guys just started stripping to change into swim suits. My mother had certain notions about being naked and this would not have fit her notions. My uncle noticed my discomfort and said to just turn around a face the wall.
I thought about the experience and when we left, it was less shocking and I looked around. While there were some variations, I realized all guys look basicly the same.
I never gave it a second thought and never had any shyness in Junior High or High School locker rooms. No one did.
Now it seems like a weirdness has set in. My grand sons do not even shower after physical education. No one does. They smell like crap when they get out of school. When I was in school, no one would think about not showering - we didn't want to smell.
Q: Do you think grade school children should be required to study Spanish in U.S. schools?
I've recently heard of some schools that are now requiring English speaking grade school children to learn to speak Spanish. Some of the parents are against it. Good idea or bad idea?
A: It should be the parents choice what language if any the child learns in school. Spanish isn't the only important language in our world today. Chinese, French and Latin would serve our students just as well.
Q: What do grade school boys talk about?
Do grade school boys talk about who "have a crush on" just like girls talk about who they "have a crush on"???
Master Peepee I highly dought that 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th graders talk about legos.
A: nothing remarkably interesting I assure you, but nothing as terribly boring as who has a crush on who.
Q: Suggestions for classroom arrangement in a grade-school?
There's being a process of renovating in the grade-school where I work and I am included in it. We are renovating the classrooms, so I need some examples, suggestions and mainly PICTURES about how a classroom in a grade-school should look like. Well I look forward for your answers and given web-sites for what I want. Thank you in advance.
P.S. I prefer web-sites with pictures, because text doesn't help much. Thank you.
A: i don't know this teacher, but somehow came across her website in a google search, and i envy this classroom. she has pictures:

Q: For Catholics! Do you think the education part of Catholic grade school is better than public?
I'm torn between keeping my kids in the local catholic school vs. public. Our public school system is Fantastic from what I hear, and it would help us save for our 3 kids college Ed. so much more.
They are currently in catholic and my oldest is in 4th grade. Should we pull them out? What do you think?
A: In my opinion:
Catholic schools provide a good moral and religious base for children. As a rule they are also safer than public schools.
Educationally, most of them are about average. Some are exceptional and very few are dismal. Your school and/or diocese should have some test scores for comparison.
In general, Catholic schools do a good job with average and above average kids.
However the resources of most Catholic schools are limited. If students need extra attention due to being way over or way under average, then their needs may not be properly met.
With love in Christ.
Q: Is grade in school a continuous or categorical variable?
I am running a regression analysis using grade in school as a predictor. Do I need to dummy code this variable or can I enter it as is?
A: You could code it as is.
You may want to consider using # of months in school (total) instead merely the grade designation.
Best of luck on your project,
~Dr. B.~
Q: How to fit in/make friends easier in a 7-12th grade private school?
I might be going to a small 400-person private school for 9th-12th grade but its 7th-12th and people might already have their friends and I'm kinda scared because of that. How do I fit in or make friends with everyone easily?
A: Hey, I am 13 and have gone to a private school all my life. Join a school club or sports and talk to people there. I was scared when I wen to my new middle school but I started talking to some girls that had lockers near me and we instantly clicked! I have met alot of new friends.
