Q: I want to start a school club where we tutor elementary kids and donate the $. How do i start?
I am 17, trying to start a club for next year. The problem is, most of the elementary schools have after school homework centers in where they already have adults who help them for free. I actually plan to go there, but how do i get them to pay? I was thinking of posting online as well. But do elementary school kids really need a tutor?
A: An in-person private tutor can charge a higher rate but you are restricted to specific area - smaller pool of potential students. If you tutor online, the rate is lower but you can have more students. Think outside the box! Try online tutoring. Then you can have a worldwide choice of potential students. Try sites like:
(1) http://www.tuitionplaza.com/tutoring/
(2) http://www.tutor.com
(3) ... many other sites (use search engine)
Good luck!
Q: What is good advice to tell elementary schoolers moving onto middle school?
I am the guest speaker at the elementary school's 6th grade graduation. They are moving on o the middle/ high school. Any ideas on some good advice to give them?
A: Tell them to be prepared! Middle school is much more difficult. The soc ail pressers are also really tough.
Tell them to be kind to their fellow students who may be falling behind or a little shy and having trouble fitting in.
My son is just finishing his first year in middle school and has become suicidal and is getting theory. Last year he was a Little hipper but fine. Luck with your speech E
Q: What is the education path to become an elementary school teacher?
I'm asking this one on behalf of my wife. She is starting school this year (after a few year break), and she has the ambition of teaching in elementary school. She would just like to know the correct course in getting to that point.
A: -Can be a substitute after getting associate's degree and applying with the county and schools
-Field experiences starting as early as 2nd semester
-Have to pass Praxis exam (should take in Junior or Senior year)
-Bachelor's degree after student teaching for a semester
-Apply at schools and get hired
Q: What do you ask elementary school kids to get them to talk?
I have to interview two elementary school children, males, for a project that I'm doing in a class on child psychology. The purpose of the project is to get them to converse so I can analyze how they communicate.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might ask the students? They will probably be around 9 y/o.
Thanks.
A: ask them if they saw the movie cars, that should take off from there if they both did.
find something they have in common and let them talk about it.
did you go fishing this summer?
do you like football...?
what's your favorit movie?
things like that.
my son it almost 10 these are some things he and his friends talk about. lol well that and bugs
Q: What is really popular for elementary school kids these days?
I am a little "out of date" and would like to see what is super popular for elementary school kids. My daughter would like to enter the school talent show and using something that is really hip, but clean, would be helpful. Do you know of websites with ideas?
trying to find simple, clean answers. For those that feel it necessary to refer to any sexual content, should keep your answers to yourself and schedule another appointment with your psychiatrist. Sexual Preditors should not be allowed to answer questions.
A: Disneychannel.com. My daughters love the cheetah girls and also they like high school musical. Anything on the disney channel is pretty safe.
Q: What issues present a real problem to elementary school children?
We all have problems-kids, teenagers, and adults. What types of issues (social and not) do elementary school aged kids have to face?
A: Bullying and changing. I remember when I was in elementry school (I had just moved to a new school/house, and my parents were getting a divorce) the girls used to tease me because I was fat. Thats when I developed my first eating disorder. People thought I was weird. Changes for puberty start to happen close to 4-5th grade, which can be akward and confusing. For the younger kids, its mainly bullying and finding friends.
Q: How do i get my elementary school involved in the go green movement on a larger scale?
I have started and initiative to recycle paper at my child's elementary school in order to prevent trees from being cut down. I would like my school to more widely involved with the community and i just don't know where to start to do this. Someone please help!!!
A: Maybe start a composting system. It would fit well with your recycling initiative and is a good way to stress waste reduction as well as a pretty hands on way of learning basic biological processes. I didn't compost when I was younger, but I'm friends with some folks that have done it all their lives and they say it taught them a lot when they were young. Also, it could be cool to do some gardening alongside the composting (as the two really go together).
Q: What are the difference between elementary school and high school?
I am a Grade 8 student and I wanted to ask what is the difference between elementary school and high school., cause I am scared of bullies in high school... It sound scary, but... COuld anyone tell me the differences please? Put it in paragraph format would be preferred. And best of all write 3 paragraphs. But if you don't want to, point form notes are also okay. THANK YOU A LOT!
Also, could you give me a suggestion of which high school I should go to? The choices are: St.Augustine, Brother Andre, Markville, Unionville, and St. Robert. Please help me choose one. THANK YOU AND THANK YOU AGAIN! I appreciate your help!
I am a small kid that skipped a grade, and people in Grade 8 and 9 looked much bigger than me...
A: well, there are several differences. You are the big fish right now, next year you will be the little guy, you will be new and have to learn whats what. It depends on how well your school is preparing you acedemically, my gf's kid is going next year, and his 8th grade teachers are coddling him, which is doing him no favor. you will be expected to be a bit more mature, but also looked at as being less mature. I wouldnt worry about bullies really, its unlikely that many seniors will even know you are alive, and the sophomores arent really that much bigger than you.
Q: Why is it important to teach art in elementary school?
Why is it important to teach art in elementary school?
How would you incorporate art in your classroom?
A: It's important because kids, even at the younger ages, ned o learn to express themselves in ways beyond just talking. They need to feel the emtion on paper when painting or drawing. It helps to get the energy flowing too! Plus art is fun to kids! Even fingerpainting is important for toddlers, so they can learn color!
Q: Is buying a home near an elementary school a bad idea?
I fell in love with a home, but it is directly across the street from an elementary school. It is supposed to be a good school, but I am worried about resale. What do you think?
A: It has a lot of disadvantages with increased traffic, noise, kids in your yard, limited parking with parents picking up kids. etc.
Q: How long will it take to become an elementary school teacher in Canada?
I am trying to reseach career options for myself. I would love to be a an elementary school teacher for JK and SK. I would like to know how long it would take to study and if there are classes you can take online for a course like this?
Thanks foryour help :)
A: You can take on line courses to teach in private schools--something like Montessori or you can do a 1 year college course for JK and SK in Ontario. You can also do a 4 year Honours BA and then a one year B Ed with a specialty in early childhood education.
Q: As an elementary school teacher would you want to use digital content in your classrooms?
We have a small company that makes digital content for elementary school classrooms. This content is made for teachers to enhance student learning and to make it more interactive and interesting. The content is only for Science and for 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades.
A: Sounds neat. I actually have this thing called a "Whiteboard" in my classroom which allows me to project things I create on my computer onto a large screen for the kids. The kids can also come up and touch the screen and move images around. It's very cool.
Q: What degree do you need to teach PE for elementary school or be a school librarian?
I have a friend who has been teaching in an elementary school but doesn't enjoy it (due to all the testing and pointless rules) and she feels like a change is needed. She has a four year degree for early childhood education but would like to go back to school to become a PE teacher or school librarian. What degree would she need? Would she have to start all over (four more years plus) or would her other degree help her?
A: She can enter a MLS - masters in library science - degree from pretty much any 4-year degree. I have friends who got their MLS with bachelor's in English, history, photography, art, education, science, etc. And she'll have more options with an MLS than a PE degree - she won't be limited to teaching in elementary schools, for one.
Q: How difficult is it to become certified to teach elementary school in the state of pennsylvania?
I have a bachelor's degree in communications from 1983 with honors. How many more credits do I need to teach elementary school?
A: since you already have a degree in something, you are only a few courses shy of a teaching certificate. you will want to find a college that has a "post-baccalareate certification program"...i don't know where you are located, but if you are anywhere near philadelphia, West Chester University has a large program for those career changing folks (I was one of them a few years ago).
after acceptance into a program like that, the program coordinator will look at your transcripts and decide which of the education courses are required for you to complete a certificate. you will also need one semester of student teaching on top of this. the good news for most of your classes (if you choose a program like this) is your courses will count on the graduate level.
i believe i completed my certificate in three semesters (two of evening courses and one of student teaching).
Q: What credentials do I need to teach elementary school?
I currently live in California and just finished my masters degree in curriculum and instruction through an online school. What tests do I need to take in order to receive my state teaching credentials, or am I able to teach without being certified? Also, I will be moving to England in August, and was wondering when I get my credentials, will they transfer so that I will be able to teach at the elementary school on the military installation?
A: multiple subject credential. One year program after receiving a BA or BM. Most states will take a CA credential as well Great Britain for anything before high school.
