Q: Do you think it's strange to have a beer garden at Catholic church and school?
Every so often I see an ad in the paper about a fund-raising fair at the Catholic church and school. Are these the morals taught there? Seriously, a fun fair with a beer garden to raise funds for the school? What's up with that?
A: LOL! Ever been to a Catholic wedding? Best weddings ever!! The ceremony is torture, but the reception makes up for it!
Q: How would you describe the church in terms of being a school for sinners?
St. Augustine said that the Church is a “school for sinners.” What did he mean by that? Give examples of how the Church is a “school for sinners.” please and thankyou!
A: We are all sinners. Church gives you the education to defeat your sins in the end and graduation of said school would be your ascension and salvation.
That is what he meant anyway. I happen to disagree but then again, you didn't ask for my opinion. :D
Q: Where I live most christians have Sunday school and bible studies in their homes, and never in the church. I ?
disagree with not having bible study and sunday school in church. How would the sinners learn of Jesus Christ, if christians are "clicking" in their homes? Please I need a serious and spiritual answer. Thank you in advance for your response and God Bless.
A: I am assuming that these people still attend church on Sunday?
We have Bible studies at people homes, and most religious education takes place at our school rather than our church. This is not to separate them from the church, but a matter of space. There are so many things going on in the church on any given day that everything cannot possibly happen on site...so it only makes sense that a Bible study can feasibly take place at a home to make room for other events that MUST be at church.
Q: Does anyone know where to find a salvage yard for old school/church buses in Texas?
I heard there was one in north Texas, but I don't know where.
A: You can check in Cypress, TX. There is an old school bus yard there--not sure if it's salvage or just sells old buses. It's near the corner of Telge and Hwy 290.
Q: Can a Church private school bus use red dyed diesel?
The church is a non profit organization, and local governmental schools can use this fuel, but does it apply to private schools?
A: Dyed diesel is for off road equipment only, no exceptions. Even if you are tax exempt. You must save all of your fuel receipts and get your money back at tax time. If you are caught using off highway fuel you will be fined.
Q: Is there any church or school in Houston TX that has a program to recicle magazines? I have many to give free.
I have too many magazines (like travel, decoration, time, etc )and I feel bad to trash them. Any other suggestion?
A: In Harris county, we can get our recycling picked up curbside, magazines included.
If you want them to be used for reading, most libraries accept donations, but we just recycle our magazines for the most part.
If you do decide to put them with the rest of the recycling, it's not trashing them. You're doing your part for the environment!
Q: Whats a good excuse to go to church after staying home from school?
Okay ..
So today I decidied to play sick and stay home from school
(stomach hurting/throat sore)
But tonight is the opening night of my church which is called fuel.
Its the best service over! And I would hate to miss it you know?
So now I need an excuse for feeling better.
Like it was a short term thing. I really need some help please!!
A: I took some [tylenol, sudafed, etc.] and I am feeling a little better. I really wanted to come to church tonight.
Q: where can I find a school or church offering the GED program?
Besides colleges are there any churches or high schools offering the GED program.
A: The local Library usally offers the course
Q: Anyone else put their child in a church school, then move them later because it was crap?
I started my daughter in one because it had a nursery, and spent the next 2 and a half years in hell. She changed schools and is a different child. Only problem is, she's months behind the other kids in her work because she hasn't been taught the NC - what were they doing in that church school?! Anyone else had this experience?
My question was for people who HAVE had this experience - not those who want to tell me how well their kid does in a christian school, and how much they love it.
bre bre - don't understand you're point.
A: I had a similar problem. I put my daughters into a local church school as it had a very good reputation locally and people were stepping over each other trying to get their kids in there. When my eldest was there, because they had a high proportion of kids who misbehaved, she was constantly told to take herself off to the library room and study - at 5 years old!
We moved house and they now are at secondary school anyway and couldn't be happier but when they transferred schools they too appeared to be well behind the kids in their new classes.
I think that it was the case that it was once a good school and is now resting on its laurels. Standards have dropped but it coasts along on its reputation. I'm glad we're out of there.
Q: Can a Church (or group of churches) influence public school policy?
My school has recently implemented a rule that states that students cannot "grind" at dances nor can they touch at all. The group of people that sent the complaint letter about the issue was a group of churches. I am wondering if this is legal or not because, if it has to do with the churches and their morals isn't it illegal to take into action into a school?
A: Oh, yes, you have a constitutionally protected right to dance like a pervert at school dances.
For goodness sakes!
Q: How do you feel about church Sunday school classes that teach people how to respond to Islam?
A: As long as they are historically accurate its fine. For example,
These days, the Christian world is helping contain the harmful effects of radical Islam in the world. However, in the days Islam expanded out of Arabia in the 7th century, it was the other way around. Christianity had been born in the Roman Empire 600 years before Muhammad showed up. The State Religon of the Roman Empire had been Christianity for over three hundred years when the Islamic expansion began. However, during these six hundred years Christianity produced nothing worth mentioning in the field of mathematics and science. This was the age of Christian dark oppression. For example, at the time Islam emerged from Arabia, Christian Emperor, Heraclius had banned all Jews from entering Jerusalem and passed laws to murder them. Jews were forced to live outside the Christian Empire in Arabia and Persia to avoid Christian persecution. Heraclius also persecuted minority Middle Eastern Christian sects, such as the Nazoreans and Monophysites. Greedy Heraclius made himself rich by conquering Persia and robbing its temples and palaces, while the poor native inhabitants of his empire, who financed his adventures, suffered under heavy taxes and religious persecutions. It was in this cruel and intolerant Christian world that Islam was born. Islam thus, helped push the cruel Roman rulers out of the Middle East. Muhammad's friend caliph Umer restored the right of Jews to return to Jerusalem and reversed the Christian proclamation to kill Jews. During the next six hundred years, (until 1200 CE) the Arabs made great acheivements in mathematics science and philosophy. All this time, the Christian world still remained intelectually starved, producing little more than justifications to go to wars, such as the Crusades.
Eventually, the Islamic World adopted the cruel tribal mentality of the Byzantine Empire that it conquered. This is the radical Islam we see the terrorists following nowadays. Western Europe, on the other hand, adopted a love for science, mathematics and philosophy that it found in Muslim Spain. This is the influence we see on Christianity in Western Europe today. In this way we can see Islam has had both a positive and a negative impact on the modern world.
Those who disagree with my assessment are welcome to post any significant mathematical or sceintific discovery in the Christian world between the time Christianity began and the west was exposed to Islamic civilization in Spain. This is nearly a 1,200 year period in which ancient Christianity had an opportunity to demonstate a positive impact on the world without Islamic influence. In contrast, I will be happy to provide evidence of Muslim mathematicians and philosophers who impacted Western Europe.
Q: Do you go to church and sunday school?
Do you go to church and sunday school?
A: Yes, I do. God loves children and want them to have eternal life.
Q: How come everytime you tell the School or Church to fix itself, they get even worse?
Better yet, when I complain about them, they send some retard with a bible in his hand?
A: hey , why don't come to my church because we have been preaching the following verses for a while now , can you suggest some fixing for us. here is the passage; 1corinthians 14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
Q: Have you ever fallen asleep at church, school, movies, etc?
I have done all three.
A: I once fell asleep at church. I was sitting in the choir and dropped my hymn book. It made a lot noise on the wood floor and everyone started laughting. Except me of course. Poppy
