Q: Are California High Schools closed on furlough friday?
The governor of california has announced furlough friday is tomorrow february 6. And every 1st and 3rd friday of the month up until July 2010. For example DMV offices are closed etc. Is this only government offices or does this include california schools?
A: Don't know - the furlough isn't for those in the military.
Q: Good public high schools in California for foreigners?
I'm Japanese and I am planning to study high school in California this year.
I can't decide between Sacramento or San Francisco!
And I am not really comfortable with my English so can you suggest good public high schools for me?
A: I think if you want to study in a public high school, you have to be a citizen or at least a permanent resident. Basically you need a social security number (which you can have with a student visa?).
But if you do have a SS number, Pacific Collegiate in Santa Cruz is a very good school. It's got the top grades in California. But if you're really worried about fitting in as a Asian student, San Francisco should be a great place since there are a lot of Asians there. Lowell High School is in San Francisco, my friend goes there and he says school is fun lol. It 's also a really good school.
Good LUCK!!

Q: What are the best fashion schools in California?
What are some of the best fashion schools in California?
A: There's the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA, I know that's a good one.
Q: Which are english books used in california schools for 5th and 6th grade?
I am an educator looking forward to help students for english.
A: Well,I don't think it matters where the books are used.Because from being a substitute teacher,I know that not every school in our district doesn't use the same books. Here's a link to a good English
book for kids that

Q: why are california schools lobbying so much against Prop 8?
they say they don't teach about marriage, and yet every day the Public schools superintendent is out there on my tv trying to get californians to vote for gay marriage. Why does he care if schools have nothing to do with teaching about it and why is he on my television telling me how to vote.
A: No on Prop 8
CA schools are lobbying against Prop 8 because YesOnProp8 folks falsely claimed that schools will be required to teach children about gay marriages.
1) Prop 8 doesn't even mention schools,
2) In CA the curriculum is determined by the local school board you elect (not Prop 8)
3) Parents can exempt their child from sex ed.*
Your superintendent is not in school teaching about gay marriage, he's out in the public trying to correct YesOnProp8's lies about HIS school system and has an opinion against Prop 8.
And, yes, there will be exceptions where somebody found some school that taught something controversial without giving the parents time to exempt their child. But that's the exception, not the rule.

Q: What are some good acting schools in California thats produced successful actors?
Im really wanting to become a great actress, but i need to know where a good acting school is to continue on to after high school in or around California. What i know i need to work on is being confident in front of crowds. Im still a little shy and my voice cracks alot. Any suggestions???
A: You do not need one based on who else they turned out. You need to make a list of questions that are important to you, make some copies of that quiestionnaire, then make some phone calls. Ask who the teachers are, where they received their training, what their practical experience is, what class you would be placed in, do they allow auditing (can you take a free class to see if you like it), etc. Whether they teach a specific method, if you have to sign a contract locking you into a certain amount of time... stuff like that. Call several studios and whoever gives you answers you like, try them out.
From what you've described it sounds like you should be in Speech & Debate in HS. That will help you get over some of your issues. Acting class isn't necessarily the place to do that.
As for where to find these classes, the best ones are found by word of mouth. Otherwise, look for ads in trade papers like Backstage, Variety, etc. You can also look here: http://www.workingactors.com/cgi-bin/page.cgi?g=Training%2F&d=1 You need to check out any place thoroughly before paying them anything. NO places like John Robert Powers, Barbizon, John Casablancas, etc.
good luck,
Marianne

Q: what are the top 5 good quality pharmacy schools in California?
And if you don't mind please explain to me why do you think it is the no.1 pharmacy school in California. If you take into consideration the tuition fee and their standard of teaching do you think that it is really best for me to enter that school?
Thank you so much for answering my question. ^_^
I'm an undergrad college student.
A: UCSF is ranked #1 pharmacy school by US News and World Report Survey
It is part of the public university system so it is much less expensive than a private college. The only expensive thing about it is living in San Francisco!

Q: Are there any good law schools in california?
I am begging high school in the bay area, and i was wondering if there are any good law schools there, or in the state of California and the requirements to get into them
A: There are scads of good law schools in California: we turn out more lawyers than anybody. In your area are UC Berkeley, USF, Stanford, Santa Clara, and Hastings. There are also UCLA and UC Davis, USC, U of San Diego, Loyola, Pepperdine, and those are just the majors.
Here is a list of every accredited law school in California:

You can check with the individual schools as to entrance requirements, but you know that the top schools are going to require top marks in your undergraduate work.
