Q: Has anyone attended a Commercial Diving Academy Training School?
Trying to gather information as to the best school to send my grandson to on the east coast. He wants to do commercial diving and has certification. It will cost approximately $25k. I have a list of schools and have been to the websites of numerous schools but would like to hear from someone about their PERSONAL experience.
A: im a commercial diver in the gulf of mexico and as far as school you can go cheap young memorial in morgan city la is your best bet theres no use payin 25k for dive school it doesnt matter what school your grandson goes to the end result is the same .the training you get in dive school is pretty much worthless its all ojt in this industry, this industry is no cakewalk
dont let dive schools tell you otherwise
Q: Is the Coast Guard Academy an outstanding academic school?
im in high school and interested in both the naval academy and the coast guard, which one would give me a better background once i got out of the service?
A: It depends on what you'd like to do after graduation and serving. You kind ohave to know before going in what your intended major will be for the next 4 years. There isn't much chance to change it while you're there and extend for another year. It's easy to change majors while attending a university.
Do you like environmental stuff? USCG is your only choice. Both academies have many of the same majors. Both grant degrees which carry prestige and respect. All 4 military academies (naval, army, air force and coast guard) could be considered "public ivies".
One consideration about attending a service academy is that students must participate in a sport, either at the varsity level or club level. The service academies' club teams are intense enough that they could complete favorably with a Division I college.

Q: Can any recommend a good flight school or academy for international students?
Hi! 2 years from now I would be completing my BS degree here in our country and I plan to pursue a pilot training program abroad (in the US). Can anyone name good schools for such training? Kindly give information about the school and how do they handle international students. Do they offer serious training? Affordable training? And more advantages please. Thank you very much!
A: Epic aviation near Daytona Beach Florida offers a very nice package for international students. It includes housing and everything else you need. They hav emonthly trips also to different places such as cruises and Disney World. You are given a place to stay and transportation. They will get you done very quickly. The weather here is good most of the year; not to mention you will be right next to the beach! The staff is very friendly and so are the students.
Give them a gander: http://www.epicaviation.com/flight-training.htm

Q: How would I open a dance school/academy?
I am a dancer(ballet, tap, modern, some african dancing, and a little jazz, lyrical and liturgical). My sister and I would both like to open and co own a dance school when we get older, right now i am in highschool. How would we go about doing that and what should I focus on right now in school other than my dancing? What else should I study in college other than dancing? Any tip or hints are welcome! Thanks!!!
A: You don't have to major in dance to own your own studio - however, it definitely helps. If you're planning on running, owning, managing, advertising, etc all by yourself, I would load up on the Business classes:
- Marketing (for your advertising and networking)
- business management
- business law (need to know about LLCs & liability)
- accounting would be helpful (taxes, bills, bookkeeping)
It may be in your best interest to create a business plan. I am currently working on mine for my dance studio in my area. Because without a business plan, and assistance from a lawyer, you'll find it hard to get a decent loan to pay for your mirrors, hardwood/marley floors, barres, etc.
Thats the last thing I wanted to do, b/c I just wanted to teach dance, no deal with all the business aspects...however, you cannot have a successful business without some preparation....
- read some business plan books, and start one of your own
- speak with a lawyer (liability purposes, are you going to have employees working there etc)
- speak with a loan officer if you are needing to make huge decor/construction changes
- lease a building to start with, before purchasing. rent is easier than mortgage and property taxes.
- check out other studios in the area to get an idea of classes & pricing
- continue with dance education yourself
- NETWORK!! meet people who can "do things"
- and make sure you have a client base of students, a loan officer is going to need to know that he'll get his money back for the risk, and students help!
Hope this helps!
