For the state of maryland I know you can open a child day care center with a degree in early childhood education but i was wondering if an associates was ok or if it had to be a bachelors. Q: Do you need to get a degree in Early Childhood Education to become an in home daycare provider?
I am getting ready to be a stay at home mom in about 4 months and I was hoping I could run a daycare program from my home in another year or so. I know I have to get licensed but I'm not sure how to do that. I live in Maryland but will be moving to Va in 6 months. I'm assuming there are different requirements for each state? Any information you can give me would be great! Thanks!

A: You have to be approved by the state, and licensed in certain areas. CPR certificated is required to, or it is in GA. There is also a lot of other certifications you can earn. The state will also do home evaluations to make sure your home is adequate. Why don't you try searching the web? That might help you out more.

Q: I want to start a career in early childhood education!?
I live in Maryland & i want to know how much do certified childcare teachers get paid, is it worth starting a career in this field. How many years do i have to complete in college.

Q: Do you think Maryland will legalize slot machines tommorow?
They should. It will help with education funds.

A: It now has been legalized, unfortunately. No more crime, more bankruptcy and crime.

Q: Is a college degree required to open and operate a group home for the developmentally disabled in Maryland?
I have been researching about regulations, but nothing is mentioned about education requirements. I have some college and much experience, but did not complete my degree. I appreciate all answers. I might add that I have close to 20 years of experience in this field of work, both as direct care and administratively. I just have not dealt with the aspect of ownership.

A: I would expect not. Some of the staff that provide services to your home perhaps. But not the owner/operator of it. There are more concerned with health regulations and background checks. I have been involved with hundreds of groups home and I don't think I've ever known any that required a college degree to run it.

Q: I am looking for websites that do free (no costs) background checks. I am looking for education, criminal, ?
No cost is very important, for example, the state of maryland provides criminal background check, foreclosure, property tax liens, etc on the Maryland Judiciarly website which is very helpful and is easy to use.

A: Sorry..........no free lunch..........you have to pay for the service............

Q: What is the best state to teach in, while working on my MA in Art Therapy?
I am currently working on my BA in art education in maryland. I would like to get my masters in art therapy, so would it be best to move to the state I can get me MA in and start teaching there? Will my degree from MD hold up in another state?

A: New York is one of the best states to teach in and it also has the most schools with AATA Approved Graduate Degree Programs (that's American Art Therapy Association). Your BA will hold up in any state but you will need to get your teacher's certification in NY to teach there. Most states accept NY certification, but NY doesn't accept most other states'. You would definitely benefit from getting your certification and art therapy degree in NY. Best wishes!! http://www.arttherapy.org/educationalprogramsschools.htm

Q: will my secondary education teaching certification transfer?
if i get certified to teach in california or florida.. will the certification transfer to other states? will additional training be necessary? particularly between florida, california, hawaii, maryland, virgina, or new york. ANY info you have on the issue will help! thank you!

A: Each state has its own requirements. Some states have reciprocal agreements and therefore accept each other's certificates. It will depend what state you choose. You need to contact the state you are moving to.

Q: Help! Homework? 13 Colonies Maryland!?
Okay I am writing a pamplet thing and I need to know the education of Maryland please help! Thanks, Jordan (:

A: In the New England colonies, parents believed that their children should learn about Christianity. To that end, parents taught their children to read so they could read the Bible. And once those kids knew how to read, they could read school books as well. New England villages having more than 100 families set up grammar schools, which taught boys Latin and math and other subjects needed to get into college. And although girls could read, they weren't allowed to go to grammar school or to college. http://www.socialstudiesforkids.com/articles/ushistory/13coloniesschool.htm

Q: If a school is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, that is a good thing, right?
I go to Strayer and someone on here told me it is a crappy school (though I have found it challanging). So I researched and it is accredited by the same commission as the University of Maryland, U of Delaware, U of Maryland and other state univeristies. Doesn't it have to have decent standards and be a decent school to be accredited by this commission? Am I wasting my time? Anyone here go to any of these schools?

A: The Middle States Commission is one of the 6 regional accrediting organizations recognized by the Department of Education. Online Universities are also usually accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (www.detc.org) which is also recognized by the US Department of Education. Where people are wrong is in their criticism of online universities and their effectiveness. Almost all online universities are accredited and none of those that are accredited are "diploma mills". Most online schools are harder than traditional because you are required to do the work on your own without the benefit of professors or peers all the time. When you do have to do projects and such it is all done over distance. In today's world of technology, online universities offer something others do not; the ability to learn to work together over thousands of miles. Also consider that there are not only the traditional online schools (U of Phoenix, Strayer, Walden, Grantham, Etc.) but also that schools like Maryland, Duke, Florida, and on ........ (hundreds) are offering online classes and degrees. This should tell you something about the quality of online education. Strayer is not crappy the problem is the person who said so does not know what they are talking about.
