you will need a BA/BS in education, an MS in education, figure 6 years, MAYBE 5......
you will also have to get state certification. Try the state dept of education for better links.

A: there are a ton of places that will hire you with the certification. if you get a degree your pay may go up. this would only be private preschools...if you want to teach in a public pre-K program, you will need a degree.

Hello! i was wondering if taking a Child Day Care Management course is the equivalent to taking an Early Childhood Education course!?! Thanks!

Q: Need recommendations for universities in New Zealand, major in Early Childhood Education?
I'm living in Singapore (Singaporean female) and I'm interested to study abroad in Early Childhood Education in New Zealand. Can you please recommend me a place where it has low living expenses, nice ambient, cool climate (not too warm though hehe) and a god place to study and live? I heard otago is good and canterbury but i'm not too sure. thanx!
A: Hiya. I can recommend the Auckland University of Technology (AUT). I studied hospitality here, although I hear that the training for early childhood education is meant to be really good. Auckland is also a really awesome place to study tertiary especially for overseas students. in terms of accomodation there are heaps of student apartments 3 minutes walk to uni such as the AUT student apartments which are relatively low in cost, and a really great place to make heaps of friends; not only from nz but from so many different cultures. www.aut.ac.nz.
anyway good luck.....:)
Q: if i wanted to become a kindergarten teacher, would i necessarily have to major in early childhood education?
im currently majoring in biology but thinking about switching my major over to psychology ( i was thinking of the health field before, its a long story). anyway, my university doesn't offer an early childhood education degree, only secondary education degrees, and i don't really want to transfer. i heard that you could earn your b.s. or b.a. and then get certified or get your masters...but then some other people also say that you must have a bachelor's in education. im really confused. i was thinking of doing a b.s. in psychology (i figured that my science courses from my bio degree shouldn't go to waste) and minoring in child studies (my college's version of "child development."). would this work? also, is it better to have a b.a. or a b.s., or does it not really matter? any info would help a lot. thanks!
i live in ny state, so any state requirements would be helpful to know. also, im a freshman, so i haven't done too many science courses or any other courses that are too concentrated in one field
A: You have to at least major in elementary ed,--my mother answered that for me. She's a kindergarten teacher. Kindergarteners are funny, but icky. You get great health insurence though.
Q: Pros and cons of early childhood education?
I need some pros and cons of early childhood education for a powerpoint.

Q: What are some of the best ways to to show the importance of early childhood education in our country?
The years before the age of 6 are so vital to all children. I am a Montessori teacher and I see the difference I can make with my students compared to a traditional classroom setting. I want to make our government realize how much help the early childhood field needs in order to help our students. Waiting until elementary, middle, and high school is too late. And tests do not improve learning, they are scores of how much children can memorize, who will then later forget what they have learned. How can we make known the need of early childhood and possibly school reform? (Wow, this is a huge question.)
A: Write your senators and congress men and women. Also invite your school districts superintendent to visit your classroom. The Governor of my state has taken a special interest in early learning and has formed a Department of Early Learning. Look up the Washington Governor's home page to get more info. It is pretty amazing and there are some great changes happening in my state. Tell your politicians of the great things that are happening in Washington and follow our lead. My school district has also taken an interest in early learning and will start a new program in the fall titled "Ready! for Kindergarten" It's a parent education program for families with children birth to age 5. We meet 3 times a year for 90 mins and give parents educational toys/resources to use with their children and teach them how to use them. Google this program "Ready! For Kindergarten" It's awesome (and it's free to parents)!!
I love finding people that are passionate about this age group.
