Q: What kind of neighborhood is Virginia College in Austin in?
I want to go into the Sonography program, but the only 2 schools I've found in Austin are Austin Community College and Virginia College. I saw ACC's Eastview campus (the only campus that offers the Sonography program) and it's in a pretty ghetto neighborhood, which makes me uncomfortable. Is Virginia College the same way? Is it worth my time to go up there?

A: You are better off at the Eastview campus area than the Virginia College area. Trust me, I work for the Austin PD, I can tell you much more crime happens around where Virginia College is than Eastview. The good thing about Austin is though, there are many bus routes that head to the ACC campuses. If you don't plan on driving, there are routes coming from everywhere. Good luck! P.S. Virginia College credits don't transfer to a University in case you ever wanted to continue your education. ACC's do.

Q: What are some colleges near VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University)?
Also, how far is it from VCU to Sweet Briar College (I mean, how many hours)? 10 points for best answer!

A: Sweet Briar College is about 2 - 2 1/2 hours from Virginia Commonwealth University. Other colleges near Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, Virginia, include the University of Richmond, Virginia State University and Virginia Union University. The College of William and Mary, the University of Virginia, and the University of Mary Washington are about an hour away from Richmond to the east, west, and north, respectively.

Q: For healthcare, do employers like Virginia College graduates?
Do healthcare employers hire or consider graduates of schools like that? The community colleges have good healthcare programs, but they take 4 years with waiting lists. Are trade schools like that accepted for healthcare professionals? My husband is looking into Surgical technology, he could get an Associates degree from Virginia College.

A: Your best bet is Tidewater Community College, or Norfolk State University. Hampton U. is also good. These graduates are tops in their field. You can get nursing degrees in technical schools and will probably get a job. However, here is the downside--- if you want to go further, to a higher degree in your field, the credits you earned in a technical school WILL NOT be accepted at any college. You would have to start all over. Also, a technical school graduate would probably earn less money than a community college or university graduate. Dona G.

Q: What colleges should i go to that's close to Virginia for pursuing a pharmacist degree?
I was wondering anywhere like Maryland, West Virginia, Delaware, or Virginia.

A: I suggest you ask a pharmacist. They are trained and spent a lot time learning to be able to help people. Try phoneing a West Virginia pharmacy since they are helpful. http://www.pharmacyassitance.com/West-Virginia-Pharmacies.html

Q: Good colleges in virginia, social life, parties, acdemics?
hey im a junior and highschool and looking at colleges in virginia, does anyone have any knowledge of schools in the area and how their acedemics, parties and day to day life is? thanks

A: That depends on what you want to know. For most Virginians, the only "real" options are the University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary. Those are academically the best schools in the state. However, considering how difficult admission to either of those has become, I'd also look at second tier schools like Virginia Tech, James Madison University, and the University of Richmond. You don't give any details, so its hard to know what you're looking for. Do you want a historically black college? If so, than Hampton University is one of the best in the Country, and you'll want to stay away from Virginia Union and Virginia State. Are you a woman? Sweetbriar and Hollins are historically very fine women's schools. Do you want to live in a big city? What do you want to study? If all you care about is nightlife and parties, you'll obviously want to stay away from tiny rural schools. If you want a veterinary program, you need Virginia Tech. So there are a lot of factors to consider!

Q: is there any colleges in virginia that dont require formal qualifications?
a college near DC that u can do majors at

A: If by "formal qualifications" you mean high school graduation and SAT score, then, unfortunately, no there is not a college near DC you can gain your major in. Community Colleges are a great place to start and many have programs for attaining a GED. CC is cheaper and a foot in the door on the path toward higher education. If you are interested in getting a college degree and do not meet the minimum reqs for applying to a 4-year program, CC is a great option and something you should seriously consider. Good luck!

Q: Two Questions on Virginia Colleges?
What are the names of the colleges that take C+ and above students & have a AKA sorority program?

A: C+ huh? And you're worried about socializing? Socialize less and study more... get those grades up to an A and go anywhere you want in Virginia. Those unprepared for destiny....have no destiny, only a fate.

Q: What are the best business colleges in the following states: Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania?
Which cities would be best as well for living, good rents and finding a job while studying....

A: Out of those three states, the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia is consistently ranked among the top business schools in the country. So is the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business Administration. Finally, the Robert Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland - College Park rounds out the list. As for jobs, presuming you pick one of the three schools I mentioned, Philadelphia and College Park, MD, which is in the vicinity of Washington, DC, would have the better employment possibilities. Charlottesville, VA is the location of the University of Virginia, and despite being nowhere near in size to the other places, employment is good and rent is much lower than in Philadelphia or the Washington, DC area.

Q: Which Virginia colleges accept undocumented students?

A: In Virginia it is up to each college whether or not they accept undocumented students. The easiest way to find out would be to simply call admissions of the individual colleges you are interested it and ask if they accept undocumented students. That way you don't waste your money applying to schools that won't take you, and you don't waste your time researching schools you aren't interested in.
