Q: What Online College is good for a teaching degree?
My husband is active duty Army and we are stationed in Ansbach, Germany. I am looking for a online college that I can complete my teaching degree with. I currently have my associates degree in liberal arts and would now like to get my degree in elementary education. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
A: There are a number of universities offering online teaching degrees, but I restricted this list to just those offering Elementary Education programs since that is your preference. It's important to note, however, that state licensing requirements for teachers vary, so you may want to check the state you plan to teach in upon your return for any special requirements.
Universities offering Bachelor degrees in Elementary Education online:
- Oregon State University (Liberal Studies --> Elem. Education)
- Prescott College
- University of Wisconsin–Superior
- Ashford University
- Dickinson State University
- Fort Hays State University
- Judson College
- Mayville State University
- Missouri State University
- Missouri State University–West Plains
- New Mexico State University
- Nova Southeastern University
- Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College
- University of Phoenix
- Kaplan University
- Southwestern Adventist University
Hope that helps!

Q: Is an online college degree treated the same as an actual university degree?
I want a couple different bachelor's degrees, and I was wondering if online college degrees (like the university of phoenix) are treated the same when applying for a job? Because with working a full time job, and already going to school full time, I don't have time for anymore on campus classes, so an online school sounds tempting for one of the degrees I want. Did I lose everyone already?
A: Your degree will not state whether your classes where taken one way or the other. It will simply have the name of the university/college.
There are a bunch of traditional schools that offer courses online. Maybe looking at a community college or small school to save on costs may help. The key is to find a program that is fully accredited. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!

Q: What do you think of online college classes?
Im thinking about taking online college classes. Im from Sacramento,California and i want to earn a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. Im considering Kaplan college.I was wondering if that school is worth it or what do you know about that school? Or any other online schools from where im from. Thank you so much im really new to this online schooling.
A: Online courses at for-profit institutions can never replace proper classroom instruction at a standard college/university. That being said, online classes are a good fit for some people's lifestyles.
Q: Is it possible to transfer to a college after taking online courses?
I'm looking to begin taking some online college courses to start gaining credits and working towards a degree. But I'm looking to apply as a transfer applicant to schools for the Fall 2009 semester. Will it be possible then, to transfer to an actual college using these credits and courses? Or is this not accepted by colleges as actual credits? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
A: IF the online courses are sponsored by an accredited college
and IF the course of study is one that the college you want transfer to has an equivalent it will transfer.
The only way you will know if it transfers is to ask.
An online course is no different that an in class course.
Q: What are some good resources for online adjunct college instructors?
I would like to begin teaching online college classes. What educational requirements do I need? What are some good resource sites for finding jobs and networking with others with the same interests?
Thanks Toronto, but I'm not impressed with your claimed internet identity, you are obviously unemployed or underemployed to have that kind of free time.
A: I'll see if I can help you both out.
JT - You will need a minimum of a regionally accredited masters degree, relevant work experience, and 18 graduate credits in the area you would like to teach. Preferrably, a doctorate and teaching experience.

Q: What is your opinion about online college or university?
I am in a dilemma should I attend college or should I do it online. Do employers respect the online degrees the same as an actual campus degree? please help what do you know about this?
A: Most employers will not regard an on-line degree with anywhere near the value of a good college. It will be perceived as weaker than a local community college.
Q: What are the chances of finding an online college for Journalism that would accept me with a GED?
I have no High School Diploma. Only a GED. What do you think the chances are of finding an online college who will accept me to study for Journalism?
A: You can definitely qualify for an online program in journalism.
You may choose to :
A) Apply directly to a program (typically costs more)
B) Save money by taking your basics at an online community college (be sure to make good grades) and then transferring to the program of your choice. Be sure to take all program pre-requisites for the university where you will be transferring.
Once you are ready to apply to an online journalism program, check out one of these schools.
1) University of Massachusetts – Amherst
They offer a BA in Journalism Studies (Individualized Concentrations available) or a Certificate of Online Journalism. Great school. Ranked among the Top 100 universities in the U.S.A.

2) St. Mary-of-the-Woods College
They offer a BA in Journalism, or a minor in Journalism should you prefer to major in a subject like English or Digital Media.

3) Thomas Edison College
They do not offer a BA in Journalism, but they do have a BA in Communications program that covers mass media communications.

If you want to be sure you get the hands-on experience you are looking for, many online colleges have internship opportunities/co-op programs. Just because you are earning your degree at a distance doesn’t mean you still cannot earn a Journalism degree. Granted, a traditional program might be preferred, but many working adults (especially parents) can’t attend classes in the evenings.
My personal favorite is UMASS – Amherst… they are ranked in the Top 100 of all universities (public and private) in the United States. If you are concerned about your GED being an issue, I’d start at a community college with low tuition costs (typically the best tuition rates will be at community colleges in your own state… example, I paid $50 per credit hour at Central Texas College). A large number of community colleges offer online classes. I have a list of online college by state listed on my blog: http://www.online-college-blog.com
Q: What's the best online college for military personnel?
My husband is in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and he already has his Associates degree. He wants to get his Bachalors so he can become an officer. We are unable for him to attend a physical college so he must do it online. Anyone in the military that can suggest a good online college to us.
A: I found a few, so I hope you find something here that can help.

Q: Can you take online college courses as a senior in high school?
I wasn't sure if you had to have graduated or not. I'm looking into taking Psychology courses. I want to go to college for pre-med and then go to med school to become a psychiatrist. While you don't NEED psychology, it's the main reason I want to be a psychiatrist. I figure it might be fun to take some college courses.
Also can anyone recommend a good online site for courses?
A: well i was able to take college courses in high school, so i don't see why online courses would be different. as for good online classes, you might want to check out what your local community college has to offer, and make sure that the school you want to go to for real college will except transfer credits.
Q: Is it a online college cheaper than campus?
I am trying to register for college but I don't know if the tuition is less for an online college? Does anyone know if it is better one way or the other?
A: Tuition typically varies by college (either online or on campus) and by specific programs. My advice would be to contact specific schools to find out directly from them how much a specific program will cost. This site has a good list of regionally accredited online colleges to help begin/expand your colleges to contact:

Good Luck!
Q: What do you know about online college classes?
Im thinking about taking online college classes, but there are so many online college's. I was wondering if you have to take online college classes at a college near you .... and I was also wondering if you have books and how you get them?
One other thing, do you know if you can take Fashion Marketing online?
A: If you are seriously thinking of a online degree which is "recognized" by organisation be it in public or private, I recommend that you explore this website :http://www.petersons.com/
there you can search the online degree subject you want, but most important these online degree must be accredited by one of the 7 education association in USA, and not by any "known/famous" Organization or you will only get cheated by getting a "degree mill" and bodies like government and military will not "recognised" these unaccredited degree, and you will not be able to continue your further study in any university since they don't "recognised famous/award-winning" school other than those registered from these 7 accredited bodies. The 7 reliable bodies are:
1. Middle State Association of colleges and Schools
2. New England Association of Schools and Colleges
3. North Central Association of Schools and Colleges
4. Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
5. Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
6. Western Association of Schools and Colleges
7. Distance Education and Training Council (for Universities that only offers distance learning programs)
Finally check out whether they have any financial supplement( or discount) , scholarship loan etc in the Peterson website, you will not go wrong when you explore it.
Q: What is a good college degree that I can get online?
I am a stay at home mother. I can't go to college everyday. What is a good field to get into, if I going to be attending a online college?
A: you cant get one that is recognizeable by employers these days.. getting an online degree is like getting a GED.. theyll take the high school diploma over the GED any time.. youll be wasting your money if you get an online degree. and online classes are SOOO hard!
