Q: Does anyone know of any good nursing college in Connecticut or Massachusetts?
Need help choosing a good nursing college.
A: Northeastern University: Boston, MA
University of Connecticut: Storrs, CT
University of New Haven: New Haven, CT
There are tons of good schools in CT and Mass, but i think these are the top three for nursing. UNH works with Yale University hospital, which is great, so that is a really good option.
Q: what may i be asked at an access to nursing college interview?
i am attending an interview at college for an access to nursing course and am curious as to what questions i may be asked.
A: Why nursing ?
What do you feel you could bring to the proffession?
What type of nursing do you want to go into ?
Do you feel you could cope with the demands of the course ?
And the usual questions about what you like to do , what have you being up to now ......and if you are a mature student ...what made you want to come back and study. Good luck hun im sure youll be fab .
Q: What is a good college to go to for Nursing?
I am going to be a senior in high school this year and I'm positive I want to pursue nursing and I also want to get a minor in Spanish. My dream job is to work in Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh in the ER as a nurse practitioner when college is over. I live in the Pittsburgh area and so far Carlow University is my top choice. I am also looking around at CalU and nursing programs within hospitals. If anyone has heard of any other solid nursing schools with minors in Spanish that are relatively close to Pittsburgh I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
A: Well there are some good University's in Philadelphia, Pa. I myself am a nursing student at Holy Family University. There are many outstanding programs in Philadelphia. Some schools that come to mind (other than Holy Family U.) are: Jefferson University, La Salle University, Drexel University, and Temple University. I'm not sure about the minoring in Spanish, you probably could do it wherever you go, but I may be wrong. Whatever school you choose make sure you do thorough research. Best of luck in your future endeavors!

Now if i want to go for college for nursing in the Philippines, I have to take a entrance exam in April [ summer vac in april in the Philippines]..
How can I prepared myself for this exam and alos for nursing.
ALSO
Do i still have to take SAT test ??
PLease serious answers or be ready to be reported
A: SAT is not required in the Philippines. But go ahead and take it.....would make a nice practice for the entrance test you're going to take in that Phil. school.
Re: taking up nursing. yeah, it's a good course and one that would assure you of excellent job opportunities after graduation.
however, if your heart is not into it 100%, then you might not enjoy your college life/studies. but do give it a try...you might eventually like it. GOOD LUCK!
dear sir, it's not nice to threaten people of being reported. you could have said "your serious answers are much appreciated"
you're welcome!
Q: how can I transfer to a college with nursing
In high school my gpa was 3.6, freshman year at my college was 2.2 because of personal problems...
should I stay at my current college to improve my gpa to transfer to another college with nursing later? I know colleges with nursing won't accept my current gpa... or what else should I do?
thank you.
A: I am a nurse and went through the same problems. Stay at the college you are at the gain a better GPA. Most nursing programs wont accept you with a bad GPA. Plus it looks better to the person hiring you. They do look at what rank you were in your class and your nursing department when you graduated.
Q: What part time jobs can the hospital offer now, I will be applying for the nursing program in college?
Just wondering...is there anything that offers temporary jobs for students going into the nursing program...before they finish college?
A: at our hospital we offer what we call Pool jobs. which is basically on call people to call in when we need them. and that could be for any job. but in your situation you would need experience for specific jobs. you could not do nursing jobs as a part time job because you are not certified. so my best suggestion in that area is that you would most likely be doing housekeeping or doing announcements throughout the hospital. paging people ect... but in order to actually do NURSING like i said before you need to be certified.... OR you need to do job shadowing to get your foot in the door to get experience.
Q: A nursing college student received notice that she in on jury duty. What about her schooling & clinicals? ?
clinicals? There must be some provision for college students, as they are paying a hefty price if they miss class...in nursing you can not miss clinicals!
A: I got a jury duty notice when I was in law school. I didn't get any free pass. I suggest she call the office that sent the notice for more information. Also, she should speak with her school's administration to see what they recommend.
Q: What do college nursing proffesors usually start their curriculum with?
Nursing curriculum
A: You'll usually start with a general course in Introduction to Nursing. Then, you'll take specialty courses such as medical-surgical nursing and Pediatric Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing. You might also take courses in nursing diagnosis, drugs(youll need to know the names of all the major drugs and what they are prescribed for). You'll also take a courses in writing care plans. Some schools might include an ethics course or a course in the nursing process
Q: What if a first year college taking up nursing and goes abroad?
I have a friend who is a first year college in the Philippines taking up nursing and plans to go abroad (U.S.) within this year. Will she start form the beginning? Are there ways for her not to repeat when he studies there?
A: She will probably have to start her college studies all over again, but some courses may transfer. That depends on the university where she's accepted. She needs to contact the admissions office at the universities where she is planning to apply and inquire about transferring options. For more information, check out this article:

Good luck!
Q: nursing college, some are telling me that is hard to get accepted ?
i want to go for associate degree two year college, i heard from so many people that tried to get in to nursing school two three times before they were accepted, and is it true that if your already in the hospital it's much easier to get accepted
A: The reason is actually much different. The reason is the lack of qualified instructors. I can't speak for all states but i know that for one state, it requires a maximum of 8 students for every instructor. This requirement if for the actual nursing courses. So once ppl achieve the requirements to apply, they normally will go on a waiting list.
As far as I know, it doesn't matter if you are working in a hospital or not, There is no special treatment.
Q: Why do I need to take the SATs to go back to college for nursing when I already have a BS in biology?
I graduated with a BS in biology and I am not finding any career opportunities in my area (except teaching). I thought I would go back to college for my nursing degree (RN) and it would complement my biology degree. Also, nurses are in high demand here. The college nursing program requires SAT scores before acceptance. I never took the SATs because it was not required for my college program acceptance. Why would I need it now? Aren't the SATs to show if you will be successful in college? I was! I graduated with honors!!!!
A: You may want to contact the RN school and see what they say. They may only require the SATs from students without a degree. On the other hand, if your original BS did not require the SAT you better make sure the program was accredited. My understanding is that almost all accredited programs required the SATs. If you're coming from another country or similar, you may have to provide some test score that shows you where you place on a standardized test.
Talk to your school of choice. It may not seem fair that they'd want the SATs at this point in your career, but if those are the rules then you can't bend them.
Q: I was recently accepted to a nursing college. What are some things I can do to prep for school?? ?
If you have any books you can recommend, or whatever you can think of. Any suggestions are mucho appreciated. :)
A: Congratulations! Nursing is a great field. Your nursing instructors will let you know which books are mandatory, be prepared because they are expensive. If you are using your own money and not scholarships or what not, I suggest you look at amazon.com, and ebay.com or half.com for cheaper books once you get the ISBN numbers.
In addition to what they deem required get a good medical dictionary and/or a medical terminology book if you have trouble with medical terms. I also suggest a good NCLEX review book Like Saunders or Mosby's Eyles Review, those are good study guides, and sometimes instructors have similar test questions.
I wouldn't buy any equipment until you get to class because the may have rules on colors and types.
GOOD LUCK!
Q: Does anyone have tips for someone starting college for a nursing degree?
I am in college doing my core classes and will be starting my nursing classes soon. Does anyone have any tips to help me through my upcoming classes.
