Q: What are some good colleges in New York and South Carolina?
I'm looking into colleges that have a good writing program. I want to be a journalist, if that helps. I want to go to a college near Charleston, South Carolina or near New York City, New York. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A: In NYC, the best journalism school is Columbia University, followed by NYU. In SC, you've got the College of Charleston, which is a liberal arts school, probably doesn't have a specific journalism program but has a good writing program.

Q: What Colleges in New York City are a good look for fall 2009?
In april i should be receiving my associates in paralegal Studies from Edison State college in Florida. Being form New York I want to return there. I want to get my B.A. in New york But i don't know in what field i just need to know what schools i should be looking at.

A: I actually know where Edison State College is. My uncle use to live around there, lol. The top schools are NYU and Columbia, but of course it cost lots of $$$$ and brains. Stony Brook University in Long Island may be a good choice for you. Fordham is in the Bronx and is a great school, but not as hard as NYU or Columbia. They're so many school's in NY, and would suggest using College Board and Princeton Review to help you. Suny Purchase is also a great school, and had my cousin go there. Good Luck!

Good luck!!!

Q: What are good liberal arts colleges in New York?
I want to go to school in New York. It's my dream to go to NYU, but well, it's a super competitive school. I'm interested in pursuing a career in filmmaking, but I'm pretty much undecided.

A: NYU is one of the best film schools in the world, but it's very hard to get into NYU's film program. I'll list some really great colleges and universities in NYC and right near the city, which are a bit easier to get into than NYU. Some of them offer film as a major, and some do not. But I list even those who don't offer film, just in case you decide to major in something else. But have a look at: Fordham, SUNY Stony Brook, Hunter College, Yeshiva U, Rutgers New Brunswick (maybe too far away?), Manhattan College, Wagner College, and Marist (also maybe too far?) Others, maybe a step below those I listed but academically solid, would be: Pace, Marymount Manhattan, City College, Brooklyn College, Queens College, Long Island U CW Post Campus, College of Mount Saint Vincent, Seton Hall, and Baruch.

Q: I'm planning on going to college in New York and was wondering what are some of the best colleges.?
I live in PA but I want to go to college in New York. I know it will be hard because I'll have to drive there all the time. Its expensive to live there and I dont want a room mate. What should I do? What are good colleges there. Thank you so much for your answers!

A: The three colleges that stand out in New York are Columbia, Cornell, and NYU. Columbia and Cornell are both Ivy Leagues, so they are very prestigious colleges. Although NYU is not an Ivy, it is till an extremely competitive and good college (#1 Dream School in America)! Cornell is in Ithaca, which is a small but beautiful town =) Columbia is one of the hardest Ivy's to get into. It has excellent core curriculum classes. One downside to Columbia would be its location, which is right next to Harlem in NYC. Otherwise, it is a great school!
