Technical education and management studies are provided by Maharshi Dayanand University at Rohtak, Kurukshetra University at Kurukshetra and Guru Jambheshwar University at Hisar. Q: what are the people like in electrical engineering colleges or university?
I am hoping to get into umass Amherst for electrical engineering. I will see what i can get into, and later pick. But are the people like normal or like really big nerds. Also, how many women do it, i wouldn't expect much : /, but lets just say i slept at a dorm, can you still go to parties and hang out with a differen't group easily or would i most likely get dormed up with other EE. Just Wondering, women are everywhere, but would be nice to have great people to chill with!

A: One of the things about a university is that you will meet a wide group of people. Dorms are not segregated by major. Also, look for activities that would appeal to those of other majors. You will also meet folks in the liberal arts classes. A fraternity is also a good way to meet people but it requires a time and money commitment from you.

Q: How do the private engineering colleges in west bengal take admission through AIEEE?
There is not a single name of any private enginnering college of west bengal in the AIEEEcounselling participating institutes' list. But 15% intake is through AIEEE in most of the w.b. private engg. colleges. Then how do they take admission thru aieee.Do they conduct their own counselling or they take admission thru aieee during wbjee counselling?

A: You've got it all messed up. Your state colleges have a certain number of seats reserved for AIEEE candidates like you. For these seats, your state entrance exam plays no role. The merit list for such seats is prepared on the basisi of your AIEEE marks and therefore these seats come under AIEEE quota. YES, the conduct their own counselling for these seats and this counselling is not at all related to your AIEEE or WB-JEE counselling. The AIEEE counselling will be held at your state NIT (Durgapur). There, only AIEEE marks will be looked at. Similarly, the WB-JEE counselling will be separate from these counselling sessions. AIEEE counselling covers all the NITs and those colleges who want to take their students through their AIEEE counselling. It is to be noted that these colleges (not the NITs) might have other quotas.

Q: what are the best mid-atlantic engineering colleges?
I am from Pennsylvania and need some advices and suggestions on good engineering colleges to go. It would be nice to know how much it costs approximately. Also, if anyone that is in the engineering field could tell me about the possible disadvantages of women in this field (is physical strength important? or do men have more creditability when looking for jobs?)

A: First, since you are from PA, Penn State has a very good engineering program and is probably your least expensive option. Here are the top big engineering schools (have doctorate programs) in the mid-Atlantic: DE - U of Delaware PA - Carnegie-Mellon, Penn State, U of Penn, Lehigh, Pitt, Drexel MD - Johns Hopkins, U of Maryland NJ - Princeton, Rutgers NY - Cornell, Columbia, Rochester Institute of Technology, Stony Brook, Syracuse, U of Rochester Here are some good small engineering schools (focus mainly on undergraduates): PA - Bucknell, Villanova, Lafayette, Swarthmore, Widener NJ - Rowan, Fairleigh Dickinson NY - Union College, Hofstra The difference between the big and small schools is a matter or preference. Do you prefer to go to a larger or smaller school? Women are underrepresented in engineering but there is no bias or discrimination against them as far as I know (I know a couple of women engineers).

Q: I am looking for best engineering colleges with scholarship program for imternational transfer students.?
I have a 3.96 GPA and I am sophomore. I wish to graduate from a really good university with an electrical engineering degree, but i donot know which universities to apply to. Not many universities provide schoalrship to international transfer students. If you guys know such good colleges and universities help me please.......................

A: That's a really tall order. There are 8 schools need blind to internationals period, much less transfers, and they are mostly ivy league. If you also have top SAT scores, try them as even though they are not the top engineering schools, they will get you top jobs/grad schools. While Stanford, MIT and Caltech are not need blind to internationals, they are generous to those they want so that may also be worth a try if everything else is in the package with the 3.9. Note all these schools take very few transfers, they are much harder to transfer into than to enter as a freshman and they are extremely hard then. If you are not a truly stellar candidate from a country they get few applications from (read forget it if you're from Asia or Europe unless you're the second coming) you may need to wait for grad school.
