Q: Where do many university or college students in the hundred of colleges and universities expect to work after?
with the economy the way it is , do you think many will find the jobs they want? in which area or field? doing what? how has this changed in the past 15 years? please explain. btw, which area of the world are you in reference to? Thanks for your answers!

A: Most likely the government, the employer of last resort. Which is why we should nationalize competition against the pigs who offshore their work. The government isn't required to make a profit, so we can blow the pr!cks right out of the fugging water, especially since Americans are more talented, at least in some areas, especially programming and tech support.

Q: what things about universities and colleges do you think are still nice and make it a great place to spend tim?
please explain. and btw, which area of world are you and why and how is it there in a uni or college environment? how has this changed or is changing and how quickly? why so?

A: Spend Tim? How much is he worth?

Q: what do people really learn in modern universities and colleges?? anything much?
what do they really learn? why is it so difficult to actually learn much , if you think they dont really teach much? please explain what they are essentially for?

A: I learnt how not to ask dumb questions like this. Duh

Q: What are some great websites for universities and colleges?
I'm looking for a college/university for media/communications, and would like to find a website where I could see the schools, ratings, courses that they offer. Anyone that could help, please. Thanks!

A: check out your library too

Q: What are some colleges/universities for theatre in NYC?
I want to go to a College or University in New York City to study theatre, specifically theatre studies. Please include ALL schools that have a theatre department (and web site would be appreciated). Obviously there is NYU and Columbia, but what are some others? Please list all you can find. Thanks!

A: Pace has a theater department. They offer a B.A. in theater as well as a B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in musical theater. They have a downtown campus. http://appserv.pace.edu/execute/academic_psearch/display_program.cfm?School=A%26S&Cred=BA&Maj=THA&Location=NYC Fordham Lincoln Center, which has a great academic reputation, has a theater program as well. (It's Catholic, but I know people who went there who are not exactly religious. They accept people of all faiths.): http://www.fordham.edu/theatre/ftpsplash.htm Marymount Manhattan College, a small school, has an acting major: http://www.mmm.edu/cgi-bin/MySQLdb?MYSQL_VIEW=/study/programs/view.txt¤tdept=1120 The New School is pretty well known for its theater program: http://www.newschool.edu/academic/drama/ Several CUNY (city colleges) offer theater majors--but no housing: http://tipps.cuny.edu/cgi-bin/RegisteredPrograms/Programs.pl?KEYWORD=Theatre&COLLEGE=All&LEVEL=Baccalaureate+Degree&STYLE=NEW Wagner (which is on Staten Island, one of the five boroughs of NYC): http://www.wagner.edu/departments/theatre/ Good luck.

Q: When should you start searching for Universities and Colleges?
If your in Grade 10, is it too early to determine what college/University? I mean, you cant take EVERYTHING because the system here in Calgary (alberta) is pretty stupid, so they make you do irrelevant things. So when should you start searching? I know I want to do engineering for sure, electrical (then MS in Chemical). So when should I start looking? Im looking towards more difficult Canadian and American (MIT, CalTech,GeorgiaTech, POSSIBLY harvard) When should you do the SAT and ACT tests? plus when should the PROCESS of filling applications, letters of reccomendation etc. should start? End of Grade 11? Begininng or Middle of Grade 12? Im looking to enter Fall of 2011, btw. @First amswer: In Alberta, "Highschool" Starts in Grade 10. Although if they do look at grade 9, I did pretty good (except for math :P 65. Ive changed now)

A: It's never too early to begin. In India(where I live) they don't give you any freedom to choose your subjects. You must take whatever your school gives. I'm applying to Georgia Tech,Caltech(the t is in small caps) and other places in US and Canada and they don;t count it against you as they will know that your education system works that way. Look at the college profiles in collegeboard and then see their SAT scores. Work hard, make the most of your opportunities and do whatever thing related to your interest you can, and prepare for the SAT and take the SAT. Once you get the SAT out of the way with a score you want, short list colleges. Be organized. Good Luck!

Q: What are the differences between Community Colleges & Universities in California?
I want to attend a 2 year community college, get an AA degree and then transfer to a university for my BA, is the school work any different? Any challenges that I will have to face once I attend the university?

A: no... I actually found CSU work to be easier, but it depends on where you go, and what you take. CSU's don't have instructors that will hold your hand, which is actually nice, but no matter what instructors will always try to accommodate a student who is struggling.

Q: Which colleges or universities in the USA are particularly good places to specialize in/study logistics?
Which USA colleges or universities specialize in or are known to be particularly strong in teaching "logistics" as a major? If you were to rank the top three, which would they be?

A: What degree do you wish to pursue? Do you have a good grade point average? Have you taken standardized tests? If so, how did you do? Do you have job experience? With so many questions, it's difficult to tell you which schools are good places for you to study logistics. At the graduate level (Master's) the best universities for scm/logistics are MIT, Michigan State, and Arizona State. At the undergraduate level it's also those three universities, just in a different order: Michigan State, Arizona State, MIT. At MIT you might experience better facilities and technology facilities/equipment. At MSU you are exposed to a very industrious area (a few hours away from Detroit, where many auto manufacturers are located at) At ASU you get a very special education because you are taught supply chain management with a holistic approach. All of them are great schools, the thing is to know whether or not you have their requirements. Most expensive: Massachusetts Institute of Technology Least expensive: Arizona State University

Q: Do colleges and universities in England have bells that signify the start and end of class?
If so, do other countries in Europe do the same thing? And generally how long are 3 unit classes at English universities and junior colleges?

A: It`s up to the student to arrive on time, some universities stipulate attendance requirements, some do not. Typically universities run modular type degrees, usually a module runs for 2 hours a week. These 2 hour time slots can be lecture or lecture/seminar and do not necessarily run concurrently.

Q: Are there any colleges/universities in Britain that include the sixth form as well?
I'm writing a story about an independent welsh boarding school/university of liberal arts, which includes ages 16+ as well as the higher education. It's basically a college you could say, but the first few years are optional; you can do sixth form in this college and then simply continue on after this. Does this exist in real life, or just in my story?

A: Many colleges will host A'Levels, so you can go straight from school to study these, although it will not be called the sixth form. Colleges that offer A'levels tend to offer BTECs, National Diplomas , HNds, Access courses etc which can be studied after A'levels and sometimes dont require these for entry at all. Recently some colleges have started offering various foundation degrees, and sometimes also BA/BSc although these tend to be limited. However you will find most colleges have a specialism if they offer the degree levels, for instance arts and literature's or sciences etc.

Q: How do colleges and universities get your information?
I am getting many letters and brochures from both universities and colleges that i have never even requested information from. If i do choose to apply, does that mean i have a great chance of getting accepted or just as much chance as everyone else?

A: In many cases, they get it from the College Board or from lists of high school seniors they have purchased from some company. It does not mean that you have any improved chance of getting in; that will depend upon your application.
