Q: Is it possible to drop a college course after you have aleady received a final grade?
I took a College course and received a low grade. I am wondering if it is possible to completely drop it.... I do not want any credits for it or the grade on my transcript. Does anyone know if this is possible?
FYI- I did not fail the course.
A: I have some bad news and some better news. The bad news is that once a grade is issued, you, the student, cannot drop the course. However, you can retake the course for a higher grade. Most colleges will list both grades on the transcript with only the newest grade effecting the student's GPA. Some colleges (though this is rare) will issue academic forgiveness for any grade that is a C- or lower that the student retakes (the first time the student retakes it).
Q: What would be good idea for an informative speech in a college public speaking course?
I have to give a 4-6 minute informative speech on virtually any topic. What would be a good idea? I'm looking for something that I (and the whole class) could get interested in and could be easily researched. It's a community college course, so it's a diverse group of ages and more male than female. I just think the worse thing is when you get up there and no one but the professor is listening to you, so I'm really big on it being an interesting topic.
A: The Paul is Dead hoax is a good topic.
Q: What are some good college course classes for a highschooler looking to be a doctor?
im a junior in high school and want to take some college course classes this spring and summer. what clases shoud i take to prepare me for medical studies?
A: Catch up on your math so you can take calculus in college - you can take it before then, even better. But med schools recommend you do your premed coursework at the highest-level college you attend, so that means the one you get your degree from - don't take premed college classes now.
Q: What is the best college course to take up now?
considering the economic crisis, what would be the best college course to be taken up by fresh graduates, and y?
A: Acting.
Or, any course that would not only enchance but perfect one's acting ability.
And then, we can apply for any position using our newly gained acting prowess.
Q: Can I take a community college course to get a course ahead in high school over the summer?
I an a sophomore in high school and have Algebra 1 the next course is Geometry. I want to take Geometry over the summer so that as a junior I'll have Algebra 2(the next course).
Also, If anyone could include any info they know about taking community college courses in high school.
Thanks for any input.
A: For high school credit, I don't think you can take a math course for the first time at a community college. You could only repeat a course in high school and replace the grade by earning a higher one at a community college. But you can certainly take as many college courses as you want for college credit(although colleges themselves limit how much a student can take) If you are applying to a UC school, taking UC-transferable college courses would be an excellent idea. All UC-transerable college course grades are factored into your HS GPA like an AP class(5.0) when you apply to a UC.
Q: Do medical schools care about your college course load each semester?
Do medical schools care about your college course load each semester or do they only care that you've completed the pre-medical prerequisites? What I want to know is would someone who took a full load of difficult classes each semester/term be chosen over someone who just completed the minimum prerequisites and spaced them out?
A: They will look at both. Graduate programs are full-time. They want to make sure you can handle a full load, plus. If you are unable to go to school full time make sure you do extremely well in your undergraduate courses, and take all the pre-requisites plus additional bio and chem. It's important to make you more competitive (college professor)
Q: Are AP courses a true equivalent of a freshmen level college course?
I understand that you can get credit for freshmen level courses at most schools if you score high enough on AP exams, but are AP classes just as hard as a freshmen level college course in the same subject?
A: Sometimes, they are the equivalent of a college class. Other times, they are more detailed than the college classes themselves. However, it also depends on the teacher and what work/readings you do.
Q: Can you take AP test after completing a certain course at a community college?
Will a community College Course be a good preparation for AP test as the AP classes at high school?
Thanks!
A: Yes you can. You need to look at the syllabus and compare it to the AP syllabus to see if ts a good preparation. But why you would want to do it beats me - you get college credit for college courses without doing the AP test.
Thanks
Bill
Q: How to know what College Course to take?
I still don't know what course I want to take up for college. Are there like any software/program with personality test that can help me decide?
A: work on your core classes first, so you can enjoy the last 2 years when you figure out what you do like
Q: How many of the questions asked in Gender and Women Studies would be anticipated in a college course?
How many of you would expect to get a passing grade for the majority of the questions asked here, if you were enrolled in a college course of the same name, Gender and Womens Studies?
A: If you are for the feminist indoctrination then you have an automatic pass.
If you are on the side of anti-feminist then you will get an automatic fail.
Q: Are there any higher math courses than Differential Equations for a college course.?
I was wondering if at this time, there is a math course in college that goes beyong differential equations.
A: Do you mean is there math beyond DEs? Of course. My college offered courses in real analysis, complex analysis, topology, differential geometry, abstract algebra, numerical analysis, vector analysis, and plenty of other subjects that would typically be taken after differential equations.
Q: How much homework (daily)is involved in a Social Worker college course.?
I am starting college in September and wondering how much daily homework is involved in the Social Worker course. I have a 3yr old daughter. Will I have time for her. Is it 1hr a night? I have no idea.
A: It just depends on the classes. Your first couple of years of school will probably be more involved in general studies course work that social work course work. Some professors will tell you that you are supposed to spend 3 hours outside of class for every one hour in class, but for me it was how well I paid attention in class. You will probably not have much homework outside of class other than papers and studying for tests though.
The nice thing about college is that you can make the decision on how many courses you take in a given semester, so some semesters you may feel like your classes are so easy you can take 12-18 hours and others you may feel like you can only take 6-9 hours.
Q: Are laptops allowed to use in every college course and are you allowed to plug them into a power outlet?
Are laptops allowed to use in every college course and are you allowed to plug them into a power outlet when the battery runs out? Because I'm a senior in high school and I'm purchasing a laptop in a few weeks. The battery life is a little over two hours. Please help.
A: we can at our university. You wouldn't use a laptop during a test anyways since it's done on paper, but in class lectures or presentations and around campus it's fine.
Really the best thing to do is contact the university you intend to go to and see what their policy on it is, Im sure it varies by university.
