Q: Is the University of Central Florida a good college for physics and space science?
I want to major in physics, with a concentration in astronomy, and I've been looking at UCF (mainly for price and personal reasons), along with some other bigger name, more expensive schools like University of Rochester or RIT. How does UCF rate in this academic area?

A: I could not rate it specifically, but frankly for your undergrad work a basic physics degree is best from any institution. A bigger name institution will look better on grad school applications, but if you have good grades and decent GRE scores, it won't matter much where you came from. The ONLY drawback will be it might harder to find relevant research experiences during your summers. These can be valuable for graduate school admissions if you get published papers out of them (but are not essential). There are always opportunities at other schools, like through the National Science Foundations's REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) program or working at a NASA center internship. Finally, sometimes smaller schools are more undergrad friendly in terms of having research opportunities. While I don't know the UCF environment specifically, now you know who to ask. I see there are at least 3 staff members with active research programs of one sort or another in Astronomy; Humberto Campins, Eduardo Martins and Michele Montgomery. There is also a Danial Britt developing astronomical educational materials. One of them might make a good mentor. I don't know your situation, but I bet you are better off doing well at UCF and applying to grad schools than stressing over money and working outside of classes to struggle to make it at RIT, which will only give you a nominal advantage when it is time to begin your professional level studies.

I will have completed two years in May and I want to know what my possibilities of getting in for fall semester are. I went to their homepage but am still uncertain of what they need. Help please? :) PS I was there doing a Disney World Internship that's why I want to go back and finish school there.

A: The easiest way to find out info is to find a student. You can locate some contact information for Florida universities here. http://www.collegereviewed.com/Florida-Colleges-Universities.html The students always seem to know what's up better than outsiders since they get to experience the classes and the lifestyle.

Q: Is the University of Central Florida a good college for aerospace engineering?
I want to study this and Im concerned about it?

A: The AAE program at the Ohio State University is great. Also, because OSU is such a large university, there are many other options if aero shouldn't cut it for you such as Mechanical or Aviation. The pre-engineering courses are also great for showing young engineers the many different skills they will need and the other fields of engineering out there.

Q: How good of a school is Central Florida College?

A: Are you talking about Central Florida Community College, Central Florida College, or the University of Central Florida? CFCC is a normal two-year college. Regionally Accredited, fine school. You'd have no problems taking credits from there to any four year school in Florida or out of state. Really, one RA two-year school is pretty much like any other. Central Florida College, now, is NOT Regionally Accredited. Their credits WILL NOT transfer! I can not stress this enough. You will not be able to get into any other school based on a transcript from there. It will NOT be accepted as an academic qualification anywhere in the country. University of Central Florida is a good school, Regionally Accredited, not the best in Florida, but not the worst either. A degree from there would serve you well.

How many year's would I have to go to each college, I'm only a freshman in high school right now though.

A: Well try hard don't limit yourself to just colleges in your area, but you could try some state universities. Then go to some prestigious grad school. It takes about 10 years to be a pediatrician. My cousin wants to be a pediatrician so she helped at the local hospital for her last two years of high school and has set up some nice connections now that she is in college.

Q: which college would look better on a resume? university of toledo or central university?
I am currently attending The university of Toledo, but the further into it all i look i have noticed that they do not have very good reviews. i am starting to think about transferring to central Michigan but i just need some for info.. thanks dani well i am majoring in accounting.. im not concerned with the cost. i want to be very successful in life and need to no which is better!

A: I think the answer depends on your major and what university has the best program fitted to your future job profession. I would go with the cheaper of the schools personally, only because it's a pain in the butt to pay it all off and I found that most of my employers just wanted to see that I actually graduated college and didn't really care on where. But again that really depends on your career choice Good luck in your decision!
