Q: What are the best colleges for psychology?
I have heard that psychology is a type of career that you can get from almost any college.. but I've also heard that many colleges in California and the University of Wisconsin are the top ranked nationwide. Does it really matter where I go to get my degree? Or would it help if I was in a school that is BEST for becoming a psychologist?
Thank you!
A: I'm majoring in Psychology from a college in Ky. It's okay. I had a professor who is from Wisconsin and he is a very smart man who knows his stuff! He's a little too much with it all in fact! But, I'm not even sure if he went to U of W! Anyhow, I think if you want to be a psychologist- if you study hard and even read your own literature about it that you will do fine. Also, keep in mind that there are so many different branches of psychology like child psy, abnormal psy, social psy, political, statistical, etc. Figuring out what you want to do after you actually graduate will also help you to decide what school you should go to.
Q: What colleges and universities have the best pre med programs?
I would like to become a medical examiner. I am in the process of applying and I want to know which colleges are the best to apply to.
A: Vanderbilt. Nashville TN excellent. expensive though.
Q: What are the best colleges for biotechnology or biochemistry?
What are the best colleges for biotechnology or biochemistry?
I was wondering which classes would be the best for either of these majors since I like both and I feel like it's a field that I might want to go into someday. Also if you you could note some of the requirements to get into these schools that would be great!
A: princeton
Q: What colleges have the best courses for English Literature like writing?
I am not going to college for a few more years, but I would like to know what colleges have the best courses for what I 'm looking for. I'm looking in the Mid-West area of the US, but I wouldn't be opposed to New England if they have a really great one. Thanks!
A: Any of them. It won't really matter as the only thing you could do with that degree is work in a book store.
Q: What are some of the best music colleges?
What are some of the best music colleges, and where are they located.
I play clarinet, piano, saxophone, and guitar but my main instruments are clarinet and piano. And I love playing the clarinet in groups, like going to all county or all state, and I like writing songs for piano.
A: Some of the best music schools in the US are:
- Juilliard (NY)
- Eastman (Rochester, NY)
- Curtis (Philly)
- Berklee (Boston - for contemporary music)
- U Miami (for contemporary music)
- New England Conservatory (Boston)
- Indiana U
- Oberlin (Ohio)
- Yale (CT)
- Peabody (Baltimore)
Others that are considered strong are the Hartt School (CT), Mannes (NY), Manhattan School of Music (NY), the New School of Jazz (NY - for contemporary music), Baldwin-Wallace College, Boston University, Carnegie Mellon, NYU, UC Berkeley, U Chicago, U Michigan Ann Arbor, U Iowa, Northwestern (IL), U Texas Austin, Rutgers New Brunswick (NJ), Florida State, UCLA, UNC Chapel Hill, U North Texas, Boston Conservatory, and then there are great programs at other schools, depending on your principal instrument.
Your instrument probably has a magazine, like "Strings" for violin and other stringed instruments. Those mags tend to run "college" issues once per year. You could try to get your hands on that issue. In addition, have a look at the people who have "made it" in music on your instrument - those working in orchestras, etc. See where they went to school. That can indicate trends.
Q: What are the best colleges for an aspiring writer?
I want to become a writer, but I don't know which colleges would be the best choice for me. I'm in all AP courses and i want to get a masters in literature. If anybody could help me with a list of colleges with good literary programs it would be very helpful
A: The University of Iowa has a very good writing program.
Q: Whats the best way to get a scholarship and be seen by colleges?
I still have lots of time but i am beginning to plan ahead. What is the best way to get the colleges that you want to go to see you play baseball? I am planning on going to a couple of scouting camps about an hour to two hours away from my home but thats all i have planned. Anything else i should do? Any way my coach can help other can coaching(getting the colleges to look at me)? Anything you have to say will be better than nothing? Anything and everything much appreciated!!
Thank You
A: Make a DVD by a professional photographer video of you. Have it put on CD then add your stats, pictures, scanned articles from paper, coaches note - both select and regular. If you get a chance - attend college camps that you're interested in. They have online recruiting - but I don't know of anybody who tried these.
Any who, mail out CD's to all the places you're interested in looking at. It's much easier for a coach to look at video than to visit 50 guys who requested.
Q: What is the best of the 6 UC San Diego colleges for a science major?

A:
Los Angeles good school hardest to get into

Q: What are the best colleges for outdoors-oriented people?
I'm a senior in high school, just finished my first Outward Bound course, already signed up for my second one, and I plan on being possibly an instructor after I am 21. Anyways - does anyone know of any good colleges where the outdoors are greatly accessible? And the best of so, I'm looking in states like Colorado, Washington, Maine, anywhere where there is a great amount of outdoor trips and such, and a good Psychology program, I'm planning on studying Social Psychology
A: Washington State is a great state if you're an outdoors oriented person. Western Washington University is in close proximity to Mt. Baker, Bellingham Bay, and the Chuckanut Mtns, among other things. The city is a very outdoors-oriented town. (Actually, the whole state is, so you can't really go wrong.)

Q: How do i go about becoming a marine biologest while in 8Th grade and what colleges are best for learning?
I am in 8th grade and I am 13 have wanted to become a marine biologist since 5th grade. So I was wondering how I would start my studies, what colleges would be best for that major and if I could start to study now in my grade somehow, how much it would pay, what kinds of animals and plants i would be working with, where i could work and any other information on being a marine biologist. I will really appreciate any help Thank You *Heather*
A: The best would near ocean's...you are going to want hands on. Have you thought of seeing a college counselor ahead of time and getting ideas? Alot of colleges will allow you to make appointments and lead you in the right direction...there may be scholarships that you are unaware of and that are available...even summer internships to work for a marine biologist so you can get an idea...colleges have all that info but you don't know if you don't inquire;) Good luck!
Q: What are the best colleges I can get into?
I'd like to get into a dental
school, but also a good college.
I have a 97 average, or a 96.
What are the best colleges?
A: As a preparation for graduate school, which dental school is, the two schools I know of with the highest placement rate is New College Florida and Harvey Mudd (about 2/3's go to graduate school):
http://www.hmc.edu/
http://www.ncf.edu/
Academically Reed is as good as any school in the world, and will also provide an excellent preparation for dentistry school:
http://web.reed.edu/
I would stay away from name schools like Harvard etc, not because they aren't good or anything like that, they are great. Its just they have become ridiculously hard to get into when compared to schools I think are at least as good, such as those above.
Cal-tech would also be an excellent choice - but is also rather hard to get into (you will still have a shot with those grades).
http://www.caltech.edu/
An excellent fallback would be Rose Hullman:

Many students who can't get into MIT choose to go there instead.
Thanks

Q: Best colleges after high school to becoming a heart surgeon?
I really want to become a heart surgeon after high school but i want to know what are the best colleges to go to so i can become a heart surgeon. Please be specific!
A: Here's the deal. First off it looks like your just starting your research into the medical field, as your question is so broad. Here is a layout on what you will have too do:
First, you must get a bachelors degree in any major, and as long as you are in a decent school, you are fine. While getting your bachelors, you are considered pre-med, because you will be taking certain science courses required for med school. These courses include a year of chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, and physics. Usually during your junior year, you will need to take the MCAT's, a very difficult test in which med school admissions look at. So, during collage, you must get a bachelors and do all your pre-med classes, and get a VERY high gpa for all of them, at least 3.5+. You also need to do the MCAT and score high, and on top of all of that, you need HUNDREDS of hours of community service, clinical exposure, leadership... Yes, being pre-med is one of the hardest parts.
Next you apply for med schools. EXTREMELY competitive, that's why pre-med is so difficult, you must make yourself competitive. After getting in, you have 4 years, the first 2 mostly book work, the last 2 clinical rotations. Actually, you usually decide what aspect of medicine you will pursue your last year of med school. After med school, you will have residencies, which, for a heart surgeon is 7 years. You will be getting paid around $50,000 a year, but will be working CRAZY hours. When its all said and done, you are looking at 4 years collage, 4 years med school, 7 years residency, so 15 years of school. A long road to a rewarding career. Good luck!
PS. So ya, it really does not matter too much what university you go too :-) But statistically universities that have their own med schools tend to accept applicants that went to their undergrad school.
Q: What are the best colleges in PA that have a good "premed" course?
I am planning to be a Family Doctor and I want to know which colleges have the best premed course and that I have a decent shot of getting into. I have a 4.0 GPA, 3rd in my class, 1750 SAT (1210 combined), participate in Track & Field, Basketball, National Honor Society, FBLA, Mu Alpha Theta, Diversity Council. I have been Student of the Month and received many other awards such as Who's Who. I take all AP and Advance classes available. What are my chances for Lehigh University, UPenn, Carniege Mellon, Haverford, and Penn State University Park? If there are any other good colleges please let me know.
A: Wow, what happened on the SAT?
I don't think that would disqualify you from any of these schools except Penn. Penn is pretty tough to get in and they might see that SAT as a weakness, but it would depend on what they think of your high school - if kids from that school have done well at Penn in the past they might overlook your low SAT.
I think you have a good chance at any of the others, based on your GPA and extracurriculars. I don't think there is any advantage in going to a private school... you can get a good education at Penn State. I'm sure they send lots of kids on to med school each year. Save you money for med school tuition. You're going to need it!
Good Luck.
Q: What are the best colleges to go to if you are interested in music as a major?
I have been wanting to pursue a career in music ever since I was 4. Now its time to start researching colleges that would be best for me to get started. Let me put this a little differently... What are some really good music colleges?
A: Research berklee college of music or something like that. I know a few people who decides to major in music that goes there. It is located in Boston. Good luck in whatever school you are attending!
