Q: What college should i enroll in the philippines?
im a senior in High school in here in NY and im planning to go to college next year in the philippines. But i dont know which college to go to . I want to take nursing, Doctor, or any in MED fields.. Which ones are easier to take ? And i will be taking the SAT test in Oct. .....Will the Philippines college accept my SATs scores if they are high? And are the Admission tests or the Entrance Exam in the Philippines are hard? Please help? Serious answers will be best Salamat! i want to study in manila.... oh yeah and also...do college speak english?

A: University of the Philippines - that's the only recommendation you'll get from me (die hard peyups here!). SAT not required!!! But you have to pass the UPCAT (UP College Admissions Test) and your SAT is a good preparation for this. And YES, we do speak good English in the Philippines. It is our medium of instruction. Good Luck!

Q: What to study in college before going into law school?
I'm still a junior in college but I'm trying to plan out life. I want to study either political science (International Affairs), Criminal Justice, business, or marketing in college when I get in. I'm confident I'll at least get into Rutgers (Live in New Jersey) or Penn State. Do the fields I study in college matter or effect if I get into law school? I'm also planning on joining the military and Peace Corps for a short time after college, in order to give back. Will these two benefit me?

A: I'm an attorney. It looks like what you want to focus on is Criminal law (You want to be a criminal defense attorney or a prosecutor like you see on Law and Order) which is fine, but what you see on TV is pure crap. Ninety Nine percent of practicing law is writing. Thus, my recommendation is to get a degree in English or Journalism. However, because you are a junior and it may be too late to switch majors, I would say stick to marketing or poli sci. The most annoying students (and/or the ones that didn't do very well) were Criminal Justice degree holders because they had to unlearn everything they learned in college. But like others have posted on this site, it doesn't really matter what you major in. The important thing is that you get decent grades. You don't need straight A's, but the better your GPA the more choices you have. If you want to do the Military thing, you should consider joining ROTC while in college. This will help you get a job as a Military attorney (JAG Officer) after you graduate law school and pass the bar (if you want to continue on the military route).

Q: What college and what classes should I take to become a personal trainer?
I am a junior in High School and I was wanting to start finding out what I classes in college I need to take to be a personal trainer. I live in Central Arkansas. I am wanting to go to college in Arkansas. But when I get older I might move to a bigger city in a different state to get better business. Can somebody tell me what classes I should take and stuff like that? Anything helpful will be great! Thanks!

A: You need to major in sports sciences, which is known as KLS or Kinesiology and leisure science. Larger schools will have this program, smaller ones will likely not. You'll take courses in various physical programs as well as a bunch of courses in human anatomy and sciences. All the required courses will be spelt out to you when you get accepted into a program at a university. For now while you're in HS, just focus highly on academics in general; do well in all your subjects and take a lot of science and math courses.

Q: What college has the best campus and still has good academics?
I got a 28 on ACT and I have a 3.5 to 3.6 GPA. Trying to find a college with a good campus, good academics, and hopefully still warm.. Looking for colleges that are looking for 26-28+ for ACT scores too I think, or lower if it is a good school. Money is an issue so it cannot be to expensive

A: Try University of Illinois and University of Wisconsin-Madison for state schools. They'll be cheaper than many private schools, even if you're out of state. My friends that attend these two schools love the campus life and the challenging academics.

Q: How does transferring college to college work?
I am 16 years old and started to think about colleges. I want to know what requirements you have to meet to transfer into University of Michigan or University of Chicago or any other university how does the whole process work. I have plans to go to a smaller college then transfer into a big one. :)

A: Thats good that you're lookin ahead into your future, and planning ahead. From my experience, I didnt go to a university straight from high school. I went to a junior college and went there 2 and half years to finish up some GE classes and pre major classes. I would suggest talking to your high school counselor, and talking about where you want to go for your Transfer college (junior, community etc), and calling the University that you do want to transfer to after your junior college and ask them what you have to take to get in. ASSIST.ORG is a huge help for people who transfer from a junior/community college to a university or state. Hopefully that will help! Good luck! and remember to talk to your counselor and calling the schools of your choice, and study hard :]

Q: What college has the highest percentage of undergrades that go on the veterinary school?
I am a highschool senior and looking at various colleges. I am wondering if anybody knows the best college for undergrade classes that have the very best chance at getting into vet school after. Does it help to go to a big university with a vet school? Are there any private schools that have a high rate of undergrades getting accepted to vet school on their first try? Is it better to go to a large school with more opportunities, or small school with more attention? Any information will help!

A: You should check out Cornell. Cornell has a great veterinarian program at the undergraduate level. Plus Cornell is Ivy League. Best of luck to you.

Q: What college university has the best looking women from different races?
I'm not talking about a college with just one race that has beautiful women. I want a college with variety.

A: If you're planning to go to college just to get laid or hook up with "women from different races" maybe you're not setting your priorities right. To answer your question though, before you apply to colleges, make sure to check their demographics and profile i.e. if their student population is diverse enough. I mean I'm assuming colleges in North Dakota don't have enough minorities compared to colleges here in California.

Q: What college-university has a good creative writing program or focus on English?
I want to transfer to a college that focuses on English and have a good Creative Writing program. I want to major in creative writing but don't know what college to transfer to.

A: If you really want to learn from the BEST!!! Go to Taylor University in northern Indiana where you will learn from Dr. Dennis Hensley. I'm not blowing smoke here. He loves God and is well recognized in the writing community both at a university level and profession writers level. He speaks all across the country several times a year and has his hand in nearly every major writing contest in the US. You won't go wrong with Doc Hensley...and you can take that to the bank!

Q: What college major should I have to be a video game designer?
I am looking to be a video game designer after college. I will be leaving for college in 2 years and I want to know what majors to look for.

A: Computer Science. Usually this is considered a degree in the natural sciences.

Q: How important do you think college is nowadays?
Is it worth the crazy costs? I know of so many people who do real well for themselves and never stepped foot in college, and I know college grads who still struggle with crappy jobs and can't stay on top of their bills (including their student loans!) I'm not against college in any way, but am curious how today's young adults feel about college.

A: As the population rises and more people immagrate to the U.S., getting jobs is much more competitive. If you dont want to go college then at least go to tech school. There are very few jobs that you can get without a college education, and leave those alone for highschoolers looking to make money.

Q: What college majors have the brightest future and make the most money?
My son needs some advice on choosing a college major. One factor is how much money he can make. He would like to choose a major that has a bright futures and makes the most money. However, his grades are only average to slightly above average for most college students, so he won't be a doctor.

A: Many employers in the business world do not care so much as to what you majored in, but if you acctually graduated. Have him pick something he enjoys, so he'll stick with it. Also, I have read reports that say that those who study the libral arts have the widest options for jobs when they graduate.

Q: What 4 year college would you recommend for business major?
Where would you recommend going to college, if you want to major in business? Also how good of a student do you need to be to get into them? I am in High School right now (going into my sophomore year), and I want to know what types of classes I'll need to take, and what type of scores I'll need on SAT's and the such. I get straight A's, but I want to know what else I need to do to go to certain colleges, in other words how hard are the colleges that you recommend to get into? Thanks, Kyle

A: USC, Northeastern, UMiami, NYU, Oklahoma City University all have msuci business programs.

I am a junior in high school looking who is beginning the college search. I'd like to go into a career writing for television. I know there are some colleges with really good graduate programs, but are there any schools with good undergrad film programs (preferably focusing on the writing bits)? Any information is very much appreciated.

Q: What gpa will a four year college or university look at?
I had attended a community college. My gpa is 2.6. If I where to go back to the community college or to a new community college and get a 3.5 or higher gpa which gpa will a four year college or university look at?

A: If you go to the same CC you went to before, it will just add on to your 2.6 GPA. If you go to a different CC the college will look at both, but place emphasis on the more recent GPA. The university will also take into account your high school gpa and ACT/SAT score.

Q: What is the definition of a good college?
I have a child who is starting to look at colleges and she says to me "I don't want to go to a big college, I just want to go to a good college". I am a college graduate myself and never thought about a "good college", I just went where I wanted. Does a college have to be a big ten college to be good? Can a small college be a good college? Can a HBCU be a good college? We live in the Midwest region of the US. Your answers are greatly appreciated.

A: A good college is one that ranks high in US News World Report College rankings. They have rankings for the good small schools too and rankings for good majors. I think right now US News world report college rankings is highly regarded, and schools that rank high tout that fact on their websites. Aim for the best schools according to their rankings in that magazine. Some HBCU's like Howard, Spellman MOrehouse are decent, but being private schools, and for the cost and how they rank among other colleges Im sorry to say, they are not worth it. Of course some people can do very well coming from any school, but the probability of the number of people that are successful in life (find good jobs e.t.c) from a paticular school increases depending on the status/ranking of that school. Its the truth. ....go for the best.
